Its modern descendant, the Journal of the Royal Society of New Zealand, is a comprehensive multidisciplinary journal publishing high-quality research on themes represented by Royal Society Te Aparangi. Research published in the Journal targets diverse scientific audiences worldwide.
We did a descriptive epidemiological study of all laboratory-confirmed and probable cases of COVID-19 and all patients tested for severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) in New Zealand from Feb 2 to May 13, 2020, after which time community transmission ceased.
This research paper provides a brief overview of some of the key dates in New Zealand’s path to independence. A particular focus is New Zealand’s progression to gaining complete and formal sovereignty over its external affairs.
However, health inequity in New Zealand is persistent. 1,2 The scarcity of tangible reductions in inequity between Māori and non-Māori populations raises questions about the effectiveness of policies to date. 1–3 To address health inequity, New Zealand might need to revisit deep-rooted historical, cultural, and systemic issues.

The Monthly Economic Review is an overview of the New Zealand economy. It includes the latest data on New Zealand’s economic growth, unemployment, inflation, merchandise trade and balance of payments figures, along with certain financial data (such as the Reserve Bank’s official cash rate).
Regenerative agriculture (RA) is proposed as a solution to reverse climate change, biodiversity loss, declining water quality and health of freshwater ecosystems, wellbeing crisis in rural and farming communities and food system dysfunctions. RA may also open overseas premium and niche markets.
In this paper, we will outline the challenges COVID-19 has placed on health researchers and the New Zealand health research system as well as opportunities it has created. We will use data from the University of Otago, Christchurch campus to highlight the impact of this pandemic.
