Belmont University Requirements for Admission

Choose your test.

What are Belmont University's admission requirements? While there are a lot of pieces that go into a college application, you should focus on only a few critical things:

  • GPA requirements
  • Testing requirements, including SAT and ACT requirements
  • Application requirements

In this guide we'll cover what you need to get into Belmont University and build a strong application.

School location: Nashville, TN

Admissions Rate: 96.3%

If you want to get in, the first thing to look at is the acceptance rate. This tells you how competitive the school is and how serious their requirements are.

The acceptance rate at Belmont University is 96.3% . For every 100 applicants, 96 are admitted.

image description

This means the school is a nearly open admissions school. They accept nearly all students, so for the most part, you just need to submit an application to get in. But if you don't meet all their application requirements, you'll be one of the very few people who gets rejected.

Belmont University GPA Requirements

Many schools specify a minimum GPA requirement, but this is often just the bare minimum to submit an application without immediately getting rejected.

The GPA requirement that really matters is the GPA you need for a real chance of getting in. For this, we look at the school's average GPA for its current students.

Average GPA: 3.83

The average GPA at Belmont University is 3.83 .

image description

(Most schools use a weighted GPA out of 4.0, though some report an unweighted GPA.

With a GPA of 3.83, Belmont University requires you to be near the top of your class , and well above average. Your transcript should show mostly A's. Ideally, you will also have taken several AP or IB classes to show that you can handle academics at a college level.

SAT and ACT Requirements

Each school has different requirements for standardized testing. Only a few schools require the SAT or ACT, but many consider your scores if you choose to submit them.

Belmont University hasn't explicitly named a policy on SAT/ACT requirements, but because it's published average SAT or ACT scores (we'll cover this next), it's likely test flexible. Typically, these schools say, "if you feel your SAT or ACT score represents you well as a student, submit them. Otherwise, don't."

Despite this policy, the truth is that most students still take the SAT or ACT, and most applicants to Belmont University will submit their scores. If you don't submit scores, you'll have one fewer dimension to show that you're worthy of being admitted, compared to other students. We therefore recommend that you consider taking the SAT or ACT, and doing well.

Belmont University SAT Requirements

Many schools say they have no SAT score cutoff, but the truth is that there is a hidden SAT requirement. This is based on the school's average score.

Average SAT: 1225

The average SAT score composite at Belmont University is a 1225 on the 1600 SAT scale.

This score makes Belmont University Competitive for SAT test scores.

image description

Belmont University SAT Score Analysis (New 1600 SAT)

The 25th percentile SAT score is 1150, and the 75th percentile SAT score is 1340. In other words, a 1150 on the SAT places you below average, while a 1340 will move you up to above average .

Here's the breakdown of SAT scores by section:

SAT Score Choice Policy

The Score Choice policy at your school is an important part of your testing strategy.

Belmont University has the Score Choice policy of "Highest Sitting."

This means that you can choose which SAT tests you want to send to the school. Of all the scores they receive, your application readers will consider the SAT score from your single highest test date (the sum of math, reading, and writing).

This is important for your testing strategy. Because you can choose which tests to send in, and Belmont University only considers your highest score on a single test date, you can take the SAT as many times as you want, then submit your strongest score. Your application readers will only see that one score.

Therefore, if your SAT score is currently below a 1150, we strongly recommend that you consider prepping for the SAT and retaking it . You don't have much to lose, and you can potentially raise your score and significantly boost your chances of getting in.

Belmont University ACT Requirements

Just like for the SAT, Belmont University likely doesn't have a hard ACT cutoff, but if you score too low, your application will get tossed in the trash.

Average ACT: 27

The average ACT score at Belmont University is 27. This score makes Belmont University Moderately Competitive for ACT scores.

image description

The 25th percentile ACT score is 24, and the 75th percentile ACT score is 30.

ACT Score Sending Policy

If you're taking the ACT as opposed to the SAT, you have a huge advantage in how you send scores, and this dramatically affects your testing strategy.

Here it is: when you send ACT scores to colleges, you have absolute control over which tests you send. You could take 10 tests, and only send your highest one. This is unlike the SAT, where many schools require you to send all your tests ever taken.

This means that you have more chances than you think to improve your ACT score. To try to aim for the school's ACT requirement of 24 and above, you should try to take the ACT as many times as you can. When you have the final score that you're happy with, you can then send only that score to all your schools.

ACT Superscore Policy

By and large, most colleges do not superscore the ACT. (Superscore means that the school takes your best section scores from all the test dates you submit, and then combines them into the best possible composite score). Thus, most schools will just take your highest ACT score from a single sitting.

We weren't able to find the school's exact ACT policy, which most likely means that it does not Superscore. Regardless, you can choose your single best ACT score to send in to Belmont University, so you should prep until you reach our recommended target ACT score of 24.

SAT/ACT Writing Section Requirements

Currently, only the ACT has an optional essay section that all students can take. The SAT used to also have an optional Essay section, but since June 2021, this has been discontinued unless you are taking the test as part of school-day testing in a few states. Because of this, no school requires the SAT Essay or ACT Writing section, but some schools do recommend certain students submit their results if they have them.

Belmont University considers the SAT Essay/ACT Writing section optional and may not include it as part of their admissions consideration. You don't need to worry too much about Writing for this school, but other schools you're applying to may require it.

Final Admissions Verdict

This school offers nearly open admissions, which means they give almost every student an offer of admission. To be safe, you should aim for a 1150 SAT or a 24 ACT or higher . If you can achieve this, you're pretty much guaranteed a spot in the incoming class.

Entering Belmont University

Belmont provides undergraduate admission opportunities in two categories: degree seeking and non-degree seeking. Within these categories, there are several different programs. Belmont University does not discriminate in admission on the basis of race, color, nationality, handicaps, religion, or sex. Each application is considered on an individual basis. No two applicants will present the same credentials or the same degree of “fit” with the university. Our desire is to work with each student to determine the likelihood for that student to enroll, graduate and benefit from the Belmont educational experience.

Degree Seeking Admissions

Admissions consideration.

Applications for admission to Belmont are for a particular term of enrollment. Requirements of materials may change from one term to another. Acceptance for one term does not necessarily indicate that admission will be granted for any other term. Admission to Belmont University is competitive. Applications for admission are considered on a rolling basis, pending space available, so early submission of all application materials is strongly encouraged. Many programs including nursing, music, and songwriting are limited in terms of the number of spaces available. Applicants will be notified of a decision within 1 week of completing the application. The application deadlines are July 1 for entry in the fall term, November 1 for entry in the spring term, and May 1 for entry in the summer term. The application for admission also serves as the merit scholarship application. Applications for admission completed via the paper or online Common Application™ are accepted and processed with equal consideration to Belmont’s paper application. An incomplete application cannot be considered. High school seniors are encouraged to apply to Belmont during the early fall months of the senior year. Transfer applicants should apply to Belmont as soon as possible during the term preceding the term for which they are applying.

Applicants are considered on the total picture that a student’s credentials present. High school students will be considered competitive for admission if they present a rigorous course of college-preparatory academic studies. Transfer work should likewise be strongly related to the chosen field of study. Students should have an above-average academic and cumulative grade point average and rank in the top half of their graduating classes. Any college-level work is also expected to be at the above-average level. A strong correlation between high school grades and entrance examinations scores is expected. The personal supplement information, resume of activities and recommendations are also strongly considered as positive indicators of success at Belmont. Additional requirements such as portfolios or auditions are considered in conjunction with the academic credentials for those programs which require them. International students should also refer to the specific requirements outlined in this catalog. Each application is considered on an individual basis. No two applicants will present the same credentials or the same degree of “fit” with the university. Our desire is to work with each student to determine the likelihood for that student to enroll, graduate and benefit from the Belmont educational experience.

In addition, the prospective student should outline the reason for requesting early admission and include letters of support from parents and the high school principal or counselor.

Special Program Admission Requirements

Admission to programs that require an audition or portfolio.

An audition or portfolio review is required for admission to a particular major within the College of Visual and Performing Arts and the Songwriting major. Applicants who wish to pursue a major in the College of Visual and Performing Arts (School of Music, Department of Art, Department of Theatre and Dance) or the Songwriting major will be considered for admission to the university after all application materials are received. All application materials must be received before an admissions decision is made; applicants who audition or submit a portfolio prior to all application materials being received will not learn of an ad¬missions decision until their application materials are received. An applicant must be academically admissible to the university in order to be considered for admission to these programs. Applicants who are academically admissible to the university but do not have a successful audition or portfolio review may choose to enroll at Belmont in another major. An applicant who is academically inadmissible to the university cannot be considered for admission to the College of Visual and Performing Arts or the Songwriting major.

Admission to the Songwriting Major

Applicants are required to submit an online portfolio consisting of 2 songs, corresponding lyrics, and supplemental questions. Portfolio details can be found online at www.belmont.edu/cemb/songwriting . Portfolios will be reviewed four times annually and must be completed by 11:59pm (CST) on November 1st, January 15th, March 15th or May 1st for consideration. The Songwriting portfolio will be reviewed once the applicant’s admissions file is complete in the Office of Admissions. Portfolios will be reviewed by the Songwriting Steering Committee and approved by the Songwriting Program Chair. Applicants will be notified of an admissions decision into the program within four weeks of the respective portfolio deadline providing the University has made a general admission decision into Belmont.

Admission to the School of Music

Applicants to the School of Music who wish to major or minor in music are required to complete an audition. Plans for an audition should be indicated on the Academic Program Supplement. Freshman applicants are invited to apply to the Honors program with an unweighted high school grade point average of 3.75 (4.0 scale) or higher and an ACT composite score of 30 (or SAT Critical Reading and Math composite of 1330) or higher. The application for Honors is included in the freshman application and must be submitted by December 1st.

Readmission

Students applying for readmission to Belmont are considered on the same basis as new applicants to the university for that particular term. If a student has attended any other college or university since the last term of enrollment at Belmont, official transcripts must be sent. Recommendations previously sent to Belmont may be used if they are less than two years old. Applicants should contact the Office of Admissions to determine what particular requirements may be needed. Readmission cannot be considered if the student has any unsettled business with Belmont University or any other institution attended, whether in the form of a financial, disciplinary or academic obligation. Once those issues have been resolved and the Office of Admissions has been notified of the resolution in writing by that institution, the application will be considered. The university reserves the right to refuse readmission to a student on any grounds deemed sufficient by the Belmont University administration.

A student who receives his/her first academic suspension from Belmont University may petition for readmission to the university after one semester. Any student who receives two academic suspensions may appeal for readmission after one year from the date of the last suspension. Any appeal for reinstatement from suspension is made to the Admissions Committee and is subject to full review. In no case is reinstatement guaranteed. A third suspension results in permanent dismissal from the university.

Enrollment Process

  • Obtain and complete the degree seeking application for admission. Indicate the desired term of enrollment and desired major. Submit the application and appropriate fee to the Office of Admissions. Submit all supporting materials as outlined in this catalog to the Office of Admissions.
  • After all application materials have been received by the Office of Admissions, they will be reviewed by the Admissions Committee after which notification of a decision or the need for additional materials will be sent. Acceptance to the university may be granted with stipulations that must be met for continued enrollment. These stipulations supercede any progression requirements outlined in the bulletin or other university documents.
  • A link to the Enrollment Confirmation Form will be included with the student’s acceptance letter to the university. The form should be completed with a $250* non-refundable enrollment deposit. This deposit ensures a space for the student in the term for which they have been admitted. The Enrollment Confirmation and deposit are due by May 1st for incoming freshmen. If requested in writing, a deferment may be granted for up to one calendar year. * International students must submit a $3000 enrollment deposit.
  • Once the Enrollment Confirmation Form is submitted, information about housing will be emailed. If a new student requests housing, $100 of the Enrollment Deposit will be set aside to cover the housing deposit. Should a new student cancel a housing assignment prior to matriculation, the deposit is non refundable.
  • After Belmont has received the completed Enrollment Confirmation Form and enrollment deposit, the student may create their MyBelmont Account and register to attend New Student Orientation

International Student Admissions

Belmont welcomes international students into its undergraduate programs and is authorized to issue F-1 (student) and J-1 (exchange visitor) documentation for obtaining visas.

International Applicants Seeking Non-immigrant Visas [F-1 student visa]

  • International applicants whose native language is not English must demonstrate proficiency in English by meeting any ONE of the following: minimum TOEFL score of 550 paper-based test (PBT) or 80 internet-based test (iBT); minimum IELTS score of 6.5; minimum SAT Critical Reading score of 530 or ACT English subscore of 23; successful completion of ELS Language Center Level 112.
  • All applicants with college level coursework from a foreign institution, must have their transcripts evaluated by an approved foreign credential evaluation organization, such as World Education Services (WES) or Joseph Silny and Associates or an evaluation service currently listed as a member of the National Association of Credential Evaluation Services (NACES). Other evaluation services will not be accepted.
  • In order to be issued an I-20 for the desired entry term, international applicants must be admitted and pay their $3,000 enrollment deposit by October 1, March 1, or June 1 in order to enroll for the spring, summer, or fall terms respectively.

After being offered admission to Belmont, the student must submit a nonrefundable enrollment deposit of $3,000* which will be applied to the cost of first semester. At this point, the Director of International Student Services will issue an I-20 and provide the student with instructions for obtaining a Visa.

International Students Seeking Exchange Visitor Visas [J-1 Exchange/Visitor visa]

International English Competency for Resident Aliens or Permanent Residents

Applicants who are permanent residents or resident aliens may follow the application instructions for domestic students with one exception. Applicants whose first language is not English must demonstrate English language proficiency with a minimum Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) score of 550 (written), or 80 (internet based), minimum IELTS score of 6.5; minimum SAT Critical Reading score of 530 or ACT English subscore of 23; or through successful completion of ELS Language Centers Level 112.

Non-Degree-Seeking Admission

Students who do not plan to earn a degree from Belmont may apply for admission through any of the following programs and may take one or many courses at Belmont. Non-degree seeking status is not automatic and is usually granted for one term only except in special circumstances. Non-degree seeking students are prohibited by federal regulations from receiving federal financial assistance. The application fee for any non-degree seeking program is $15.00. The application deadline for non-degree seeking admission is the Friday prior to the beginning of the term of entry.  All application materials must be received by the application deadline.

Audit Admission

Individuals wishing to attend class presentations as a non-participant in a non-credit, non-degree seeking status may apply to audit a course. Audit is non-credit in all cases and regular tuition fees apply. Since all classes are not open for audit, students must have prior approval of the Dean of the college or school in which the course is to be offered before being admitted. Students taking courses for credit have priority over audit students for class entry. Therefore, audit students may register on a space-available basis only. Students may not audit private music lessons.

Cross Admission

Students from an institution with whom University has a cross-town agreement who wish to take courses at Belmont under that agreement must complete the application and submit a Letter of Good Standing from their home institution. Please contact the office of the Registrar at your home institution for requirements related to your particular school’s agreement with Belmont.

Early Admission

Students may apply for early admission to Belmont after the junior year in high school. The student may be planning to skip the senior year, take courses during the summer only and return to high school as a senior, or take courses at Belmont concurrent with the high school senior year (Dual enrollment). The requirements for consideration are: completion, with grade of “C” or higher, three English courses and three math courses, SAT of 1110 (composite score of Critical Reading and Math) or ACT composite of 24, and a minimum high school GPA of 3.00 on academic subjects. In addition, the prospective student should outline the reason for requesting early admission and include letters of support from parents and the high school principal or counselor.

Irregular Post-Graduate Admission

The Irregular Post-Graduate status (IPG) is for students who hold an undergraduate degree from an accredited college or university and would like to take additional undergraduate courses at Belmont. In addition to the application and fee, a student must submit an official copy of the college transcript with degree and graduation date posted.

Transient Admission

Admission as a transient student is granted on the basis of a completed application and a Transient Student Permission Form completed by an appropriate official at the student’s current university. A student coming directly from high school to summer school at Belmont needs to supply a high school transcript, test scores, application, fee and letter of acceptance from the university they will attend during the fall semester.

Regular Non-Degree Admission

Students who do not wish to earn a degree, but otherwise would normally fall into the freshman or transfer admission category, may apply as a non-degree seeking student. The application fee is $15.00, but all other admission requirements are the same as those for degree-seeking students.

Senior Citizen Audit

Senior citizens 60 years or older may audit a course, pending space available for $25 per course. Proof of age is required.

Guidelines for Official Documents

Transcripts.

Belmont University is a private Christian liberal arts university with an acceptance rate of 84%. Located on a 75-acre campus two miles from downtown Nashville, Tennessee, Belmont offers over 95 undergraduate areas of study. Programs in music business and nursing are among the most popular with undergraduates. The university has a 14-to-1  student / faculty ratio , and about half of all classes have 20 or fewer students. On the athletic front, the Belmont University Bruins compete in the NCAA Division I Ohio Valley Conference.

Considering applying to Belmont University? Here are the admissions statistics you should know, including average SAT/ACT scores and GPAs of admitted students.

Acceptance Rate

During the 2018-19 admissions cycle, Belmont University had an acceptance rate of 84%. This means that for every 100 students who applied, 84 students were admitted, making Belmont's admissions process somewhat competitive.

SAT Scores and Requirements

Belmont University requires that all applicants submit either SAT or ACT scores. During the 2018-19 admissions cycle, 46% of admitted students submitted SAT scores.

This admissions data tells us that most of Belmont University's admitted students fall within the top 35% nationally on the SAT. For the evidence-based reading and writing section, 50% of students admitted to Belmont scored between 580 and 670, while 25% scored below 580 and 25% scored above 670. On the math section, 50% of admitted students scored between 550 and 650, while 25% scored below 550 and 25% scored above 650. Applicants with a composite SAT score of 1320 or higher will have particularly competitive chances at Belmont University.

Requirements

Belmont does not require the optional SAT essay section or SAT Subject tests. Note that Belmont does not superscore SAT results; your highest composite score from a single sitting will be considered.

ACT Scores and Requirements

Belmont University requires that all applicants submit either SAT or ACT scores. During the 2018-19 admissions cycle, 72% of admitted students submitted ACT scores.

This admissions data tells us that most of Belmont's admitted students fall within the top 26% nationally on the ACT. The middle 50% of students admitted to Belmont received a composite ACT score between 24 and 29, while 25% scored above 29 and 25% scored below 24.

Note that Belmont does not superscore ACT results; your highest composite ACT score will be considered. Belmont University does not require the ACT writing section.

In 2019, the average high school GPA of Belmont University's incoming freshmen class was 3.53. This data suggests that most successful applicants to Belmont University have primarily high B grades.

Self-Reported GPA/SAT/ACT Graph

The admissions data in the graph is self-reported by applicants to Belmont University. GPAs are unweighted. Find out how you compare to accepted students, see the real-time graph, and calculate your chances of getting in with a free Cappex account.

Admissions Chances

Belmont University, which accepts over three-quarters of applicants, has a somewhat selective admissions process. If your SAT/ACT scores and GPA fall within the school's average ranges, you have a strong chance of being accepted. Keep in mind, however, that Belmont also has a holistic admissions process involving other factors beyond your grades and test scores. A strong application essay and glowing letters of recommendation can strengthen your application, as can participation in meaningful extracurricular activities and a rigorous course schedule . Students with particularly compelling stories or achievements can still receive serious consideration even if their grades and test scores are outside Belmont's average range.

In the graph above, the blue and green dots represent students who were accepted to Belmont University. You can see that the majority of admitted students had high school averages of B+ or higher, ACT composite scores of 21 or higher, and combined SAT scores of about 1050 or better (ERW+M). Grades and scores above these lower ranges will certainly increase your chances.

College Grid: sat, act, gpa, and other school info

This college guide uses the most recent data available provided by the U.S. Department of Education. This information was last updated on October 10th, 2023.

Belmont University Admission Requirements Guide

Whether you’re just starting to consider Belmont University as an option or are well into the application process, this guide will provide a comprehensive overview of the Belmont University undergraduate admission requirements. After reading this guide, you will understand what needs to be done to maximize your chances of being admitted to this institution’s undergraduate program.

Belmont University Acceptance Rate

For the most recent class, the Belmont University acceptance rate was 88.08%. While odds of being accepted into this university are favorable, it is still important to follow the admission requirements. Neglecting to include even one required component could result in Belmont University discarding your application without offering you a chance to resubmit. On that note, let’s discuss these key requirements.

belmont essay requirements

Belmont University GPA Requirements

Every high school has its own method of constructing students’ grade point averages (GPA). Some secondary schools use a weighted GPA system, where they take into account the rigor of honors courses and weigh them more heavily, and others use an unweighted GPA system, in which letter grades all carry the same weight regardless of the course’s difficulty.

To level the playing field, schools often compare applicants through their unweighted GPA and consider the number of honors and advanced courses separately. This is how Belmont University typically conducts its college application review process.

Belmont University Average GPA

When looking at undergraduate students who were most recently admitted, the Belmont University average GPA is 3.6. Although there are no GPA requirements for admission, it is strongly recommended that prospective students aim for at least a 3.6 to give themselves an adequate chance of being accepted into Belmont University.

Belmont University SAT Score Requirements

The SAT is a standardized test that measures college readiness and educational foundation. The SAT has been used for nearly 100 years to test prospective students in mathematics, reading, writing, and language. Here are the SAT metrics to take into account when applying to Belmont University.

Belmont University Average SAT Scores

When looking at the undergraduate students who were in the most recently admitted class, the average Belmont University SAT Score was 1272.

Does Belmont University Require SAT Test Results?

Several major colleges have placed less emphasis on requiring SAT test scores; some are not weighing them as heavily when making admission decisions. On the other hand, the majority of large universities still require applicants to send in their SAT results. Many schools waived the requirement for students impacted by the pandemic, making this question even more convoluted. Thus, is Belmont University currently requiring the submission of SAT test results to be considered for admission?

Belmont University does not require SAT test results, according to our latest data. However, keep in mind that this policy could change with little notice. We still encourage students to submit their SAT scores as part of their application.

Belmont University ACT Score Requirements

The ACT was founded in 1969 and serves as another college readiness measurement tool. The four subject areas are: English, mathematics, reading, and science. Here are the details regarding Belmont University’s ACT Requirements.

Belmont University Average ACT Scores

When examining the most recently accepted undergraduate class, the median ACT Score for Belmont University is 27.

Here is an updated range of Belmont University ACT scores segmented by the three sections of the exam: English, Math, and Writing.

Does Belmont University Require ACT Test Results?

Belmont University is not requiring applicants to submit ACT test scores. Although standardized tests are not required for their current admissions period, it is strongly recommended to submit your ACT results. Admissions counselors are looking at the applicant holistically, and a good score can add weight to your application.

Belmont University Application Requirements

Does belmont university use the common app.

Like most major U.S. schools, Belmont University does use the Common Application for their admissions process. The Common App is a unified application that prospective students use to apply to undergraduate colleges and universities. It allows applicants to use a single application that can be sent to as many colleges as they apply to, instead of repeatedly inputting the same demographic and academic information per school. Belmont University may request additional materials, such as supplemental essays and questions, but the primary application structure remains the same.

Does Belmont University Require Letters of Recommendation?

Belmont University does not require a letter of recommendation from a teacher. Even though it’s not required, you are allowed to submit a teacher recommendation letter as supplemental material in your application. It is highly recommended that you do so, especially if you have a strong relationship with a teacher who is willing to attest to your academic and interpersonal skills.

A recommendation letter from a school counselor or guidance counselor is required to apply to Belmont University. High school counselors are constantly writing letters of recommendation for students, so asking them to create one for you is a fairly straightforward process. Ensure that they are at least somewhat familiar with your character and goals, as the purpose of this letter is to show Belmont University that you are a comprehensively complete applicant.

Belmont University Application Checklist

See our application checklist for Belmont University below to ensure you complete and submit the proper materials.

In an ever-changing world, Belmont University is committed to remaining flexible and adaptable through a holistic admissions application process. Implemented during the 2020-21 undergraduate application cycles due to the challenges the coronavirus has placed on the college search process, Belmont will officially continue its test optional policy for the 2021-22 admission application cycle (i.e., for students applying for Spring and Fall 2022 admittance).

Undergraduate students who apply as a test optional applicant will not be required to submit ACT or SAT scores for admission and scholarship purposes. Graduate students can check with their individual program for  admissions requirements. Belmont admission counselors are also available to help answer any questions and guide prospective students through the application process.

Belmont Associate Provost and Dean of Enrollment Services Dr. Chris Gage said that while the number of higher education institutions adopting a test-optional admission policy has increased during the COVID-19 pandemic, most are likely to continue this path, and Belmont is proud to do so as the decision signifies a student-centric admission process. He explained, “We want to ensure equity in our admission process by acknowledging the unique skills and talents of every student interested in a Belmont education. Students are more than a test score, and our holistic review process guarantees all students receive equal consideration for admission and merit scholarships regardless if they are a test submitter.”

Belmont is committed to using a holistic approach in reviewing each applicant for admission, reviewing all required components of an application such as essays, resume of activities, transcripts and school counselor recommendations. Belmont will also equally consider every student for merit-based scholarships regardless of their decision to submit a test score. A list of frequently asked questions and answers about this policy can be found on Belmont’s  Test Optional information page .

“At Belmont, the admission team is not just admitting students for their first year; rather, our framework is to admit future alumni, so our process seeks to honor all student achievements,” Gage said. “As with nearly every aspect of life, COVID-19 has disrupted college admissions and Belmont seeks to remove barriers to entry rather than make the enrollment process more challenging and complex.”

Another hallmark of Belmont’s COVID-era admissions strategies is the opportunity for more robust virtual visits. Freshman and transfer students alike can join Belmont admissions counselors and student tour guides for the newly revitalized  Virtual Admissions Information Sessions and Campus Tours . These sessions cover general information about the University and its program offerings , as well as the admissions and financial aid process. The tour guide will provide a virtual tour of campus and residence halls, incorporating Belmont’s unique history with their own personal stories. These sessions are offered weekly through the semester and can be scheduled through Belmont’s  BU4U accounts .

Of course, there’s nothing quite like experiencing Belmont’s campus in person. Although limited in size due to COVID-19, these tours and visits are still available. Updated safety guidelines for campus visitors can be found on Belmont’s  admissions website.

Your chance of acceptance, your chancing factors, extracurriculars, act requirements for belmont.

Hello! I'm planning on applying to Belmont University and was wondering if anyone knows the average ACT scores they're looking for in applicants? I want to ensure that my score is in the right range to give me a solid chance. Thanks for any info!

Belmont University has adopted a test-optional policy for the 2024-2025 application cycle, which means that submitting your ACT score is not required. However, if you prefer to submit your ACT scores, it can be helpful to know the average scores of admitted students to gauge where you stand.

For Belmont, average ACT of admitted students is currently around 26. If your score falls around this value, you should be competitive with the average applicant. Keep in mind that a score above 30 would make you a stronger candidate, while a score below 24 might leave you slightly less competitive.

Regardless of whether you choose to submit your ACT score or not, remember that Belmont will evaluate your application holistically, taking into account your GPA, course rigor, extracurricular activities, and personal essays. So, make sure you focus on other aspects of your application too, such as crafting strong essays and showcasing your involvement in meaningful activities. Good luck with your application!
