14th September is the birth date of Beohar Rajendra Simha, a notable Hindi writer born on 14th September 1900.

Mr. Simha played a crucial role in crusading for the adoption of Hindi as the official language. He traveled throughout the country to garner support for Hindi. Efforts of Mr. Simha and others were finally rewarded when the Indian Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi (Devnagari) as the official language of India on 14th September 1949, the birth anniversary of Mr. Simha.

Opposition from the States

Adoption of Hindi as the official language faced stiff opposition from many Non-Hindi speaking states like Tamil Nadu, where English was widely used as the official language. Oppositions were also made against the government’s efforts of making Hindi a compulsory subject in schools. The agitations forced the government to withdraw a compulsory Hindi order and make it optional in schools.

Efforts of Mr. Simha and several others finally paid off, on 14 th September 1949, when the Indian Constituent Assembly adopted Hindi in Devnagari script as the official language of the Republic of India.

दुर्भाग्य से भले ही हिंदी दुनिया की चौथी व्यापक बोली जाने वाली भाषा है परन्तु इसके मूल देश में लोग इसको महत्व नहीं देते हैं। स्कूल से लेकर कॉलेज, कॉर्पोरेट, कार्यालयों तक अंग्रेजी को अधिक प्राथमिकता दी जाती है और हिंदी अंग्रेजी से पिछड़ जाती है। माता-पिता, शिक्षकों और हर किसी को लिखित और मौखिक रूप से अंग्रेजी सीखने के महत्व पर जोर देना आम बात है क्योंकि इससे नौकरी हासिल करने में काफी मदद मिलती है। यह देखना दुखदाई है कि नौकरियों और शैक्षिक पाठ्यक्रमों के लिए भी लोगों को स्मार्ट होना पड़ता है क्योंकि नौकरी पर रखने वाले अधिकारी उन्हें उनके अंग्रेजी से संबंधित ज्ञान के आधार पर चुनते हैं। बहुत से लोग सिर्फ इसलिए काम करने का अवसर खो देते हैं क्योंकि वे अंग्रेजी को धाराप्रवाह नहीं बोल पाते भले ही वे काम के बारे में अच्छी जानकारी रखते हों।

हिंदी दिवस ऐसे लोगों को जगाने का प्रयास है और उनमें हिंदी भाषा के लिए सम्मान स्थापित करने का प्रयास है।

• यह उन सात भाषाओं में से एक है जो वेब एड्रेस बनाने के लिए उपयोग की जाती हैं।
• दुनिया में हर ध्वनि हिंदी भाषा में लिखी जा सकती है।

यह दुर्भाग्यपूर्ण है कि हिंदी भारत में सबसे अधिक व्यापक रूप से बोली जाने वाली भाषा है और इसे भारत गणराज्य की आधिकारिक भाषाओं में से एक के रूप में स्वीकृत किया गया है परन्तु भारत में अधिकांश विद्यालयों को इसे महत्वहीन मानते हैं। अंग्रेजी को अधिक महत्व दिया जाता है और मौखिक और लिखित अंग्रेजी दोनों सीखने पर दबाव बनाया जाता है।

बच्चे इन दिनों एक अलग मानसिकता के साथ बड़े होते हैं। उनके हिसाब से जो व्यक्ति अंग्रेजी बोलता है वह सब कुछ जानता है और अन्य लोग, जो अंग्रेजी नहीं जानते, के मुकाबले बेहतर हैं। जो लोग साक्षात्कार या अन्य जगहों पर हिंदी बोलते हैं उन्हें कमतर आंका जाता है। इस मानसिकता को बदला जाना चाहिए। यह सच है कि अंग्रेजी एक वैश्विक भाषा है और इसे विशेष रूप से कॉर्पोरेट जगत में प्राथमिकता दी जाती है और छात्रों को मौखिक और लिखित रूप से प्रयोग में लाने वाली अंग्रेजी को सुधारना गलत नहीं है। हालांकि उन्हें यह नहीं समझना चाहिए कि हिंदी किसी भी वजह से अंग्रेजी से कम है। यह समय है कि विद्यार्थियों को दोनों भाषाओं, अंग्रेजी और हिंदी, को एक जैसा मानना ​​और सम्मान करना सिखाया जाना चाहिए।

जैसे विद्यालय दीवाली, स्वतंत्रता दिवस और जन्माष्टमी जैसे अन्य विशेष अवसरों पर मजेदार गतिविधियों और सांस्कृतिक कार्यक्रमों का आयोजन करते हैं उसी तरह उन्हें अपनी मातृभाषा को सम्मान देने के लिए हिंदी दिवस को मनाना चाहिए।

यह हिंदी भाषा के महत्व पर जोर देने का एक दिन है। हमारे देश में ही हिंदी का महत्व कुछ खो सा गया है, यहाँ पर अंग्रेजी बोलने वाली आबादी को समझदार माना जाता है और हिंदी बोलने वाली आबादी को सभ्य और समझदार समझा जाता है। यह देखना बहुत ही दुखद है कि नौकरी साक्षात्कार के दौरान, अंग्रेजी बोलने वाले लोगों को दूसरों से अधिक वरीयता दी जाती है। यह पक्षपातपूर्ण दृष्टिकोण को दूर करने का समय है। हिंदी दिवस हमारी राष्ट्रीय भाषा के साथ-साथ हमारी संस्कृति के महत्व पर जोर देने के लिए एक महान कदम है। यह युवाओं को उनकी जड़ों के बारे में याद दिलाने का एक तरीका है। कोई फर्क नहीं पड़ता कि हम कहाँ पहुंचते हैं और हम क्या करते हैं, अगर हम अपनी जड़ों के साथ ग्राउंड और सिंक रहते हैं, तो हम अचूक रहते हैं। प्रत्येक वर्ष, ये दिन हमें हमारी वास्तविक पहचान की याद दिलाता है और हमें अपने देश के लोगों के साथ एकजुट करता है। हमें संस्कृति और मूल्यों को बरकरार रखना चाहिए और ये दिन इसके लिए एक अनुस्मारक के रूप में कार्य करता है। हिंदी दिवस एक ऐसा दिन है जो हमें देशभक्ति भावना के साथ प्रेरित करता है।
