Tons of features to speed up your research
Upload your own pdfs, orient with a quick summary, view sources for every answer, ask questions to papers, research for the machine intelligence age, pick a plan that's right for you, get in touch, enterprise and institutions, custom pricing, common questions. great answers., how do researchers use elicit.
Over 2 million researchers have used Elicit. Researchers commonly use Elicit to:
- Speed up literature review
- Find papers they couldn’t find elsewhere
- Automate systematic reviews and meta-analyses
- Learn about a new domain
Elicit tends to work best for empirical domains that involve experiments and concrete results. This type of research is common in biomedicine and machine learning.
What is Elicit not a good fit for?
Elicit does not currently answer questions or surface information that is not written about in an academic paper. It tends to work less well for identifying facts (e.g. “How many cars were sold in Malaysia last year?”) and theoretical or non-empirical domains.
What types of data can Elicit search over?
Elicit searches across 125 million academic papers from the Semantic Scholar corpus, which covers all academic disciplines. When you extract data from papers in Elicit, Elicit will use the full text if available or the abstract if not.
How accurate are the answers in Elicit?
A good rule of thumb is to assume that around 90% of the information you see in Elicit is accurate. While we do our best to increase accuracy without skyrocketing costs, it’s very important for you to check the work in Elicit closely. We try to make this easier for you by identifying all of the sources for information generated with language models.
What is Elicit Plus?
Elicit Plus is Elicit's subscription offering, which comes with a set of features, as well as monthly credits. On Elicit Plus, you may use up to 12,000 credits a month. Unused monthly credits do not carry forward into the next month. Plus subscriptions auto-renew every month.
What are credits?
Elicit uses a credit system to pay for the costs of running our app. When you run workflows and add columns to tables it will cost you credits. When you sign up you get 5,000 credits to use. Once those run out, you'll need to subscribe to Elicit Plus to get more. Credits are non-transferable.
How can you get in contact with the team?
Please email us at [email protected] or post in our Slack community if you have feedback or general comments! We log and incorporate all user comments. If you have a problem, please email [email protected] and we will try to help you as soon as possible.
What happens to papers uploaded to Elicit?
When you upload papers to analyze in Elicit, those papers will remain private to you and will not be shared with anyone else.
How accurate is Elicit?

Elicit is a powerful business tool designed to help researchers analyze research papers at an incredibly rapid pace. By automating time-consuming research tasks such as summarizing papers, extracting data, and synthesizing findings, Elicit aims to streamline the research process and increase efficiency.
With a database of over 200 million research papers, users can ask a research question and receive a list of relevant papers in response. Elicit provides users with one-sentence abstract summaries, allowing them to quickly identify and select papers of interest. Users can then extract details from these papers into an organized table, making it easier to find themes and concepts across all the papers.
One of the key features of Elicit is its ability to reduce hallucination and increase accuracy when extracting data from research papers. By training their models on specific tasks, fine-tuning them on a per-task basis, and constantly iterating to improve accuracy, Elicit aims to provide users with reliable and trustworthy information. Additionally, Elicit only shows papers that exist in the scientific literature, making it easier for users to double-check answers and verify the information.
Researchers can benefit from using Elicit in a variety of ways, such as speeding up the literature review process, finding papers that may not be available elsewhere, automating systematic reviews and meta-analyses, and learning about new domains. Elicit is particularly effective for empirical domains that involve experiments and concrete results, such as biomedicine and machine learning.
Over 800,000 researchers have already tried Elicit and have found it to be a valuable tool for enhancing their research process. By utilizing Elicit, researchers can save time, increase accuracy, and discover valuable insights from the vast array of research papers available.

AI transforms research by streamlining workflows, automating tasks, and aiding analysis. It helps with:
AI finds relevant papers, suggests connections, and identifies trends.
AI crunches numbers, finds patterns, and presents clear visuals.
AI improves grammar, style, and even suggests rephrased sentences.
AI brainstorms ideas, outlines, and drafts content (be sure to cite and fact-check!).
AI facilitates communication across disciplines and institutions.
Be critical of AI results; verify information from trusted sources.
Cite AI-generated content properly to avoid plagiarism.
AI enhances research, it does not replace human expertise and critical thinking.

Assessing Superhuman Speed as a Gamified Reward in a Virtual Reality Bike Exergame
Research output : Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceeding › Conference contribution › peer-review
This research presents a Virtual Reality (VR) bike exergame system consisting of a stationed road bike, four novel virtual steering methods, two in-game superhuman speed reward ideas, and a pedalling system simulating real-life resistance. A study is conducted to understand how virtual speed can be used as a reward to encourage enjoyment in physical activities. The result suggests that adding reward-based superhuman speed positively impacts user enjoyment. Adding steering control and increasing speed potentially do not inhibit greater motion sickness symptoms using well-aligned physical-to-virtual input and output representations.

Adding steering control and increasing speed potentially do not inhibit greater motion sickness symptoms using well-aligned physical-to-virtual input and output representations.

Title: humanly certifying superhuman classifiers.
Abstract: Estimating the performance of a machine learning system is a longstanding challenge in artificial intelligence research. Today, this challenge is especially relevant given the emergence of systems which appear to increasingly outperform human beings. In some cases, this "superhuman" performance is readily demonstrated; for example by defeating legendary human players in traditional two player games. On the other hand, it can be challenging to evaluate classification models that potentially surpass human performance. Indeed, human annotations are often treated as a ground truth, which implicitly assumes the superiority of the human over any models trained on human annotations. In reality, human annotators can make mistakes and be subjective. Evaluating the performance with respect to a genuine oracle may be more objective and reliable, even when querying the oracle is expensive or impossible. In this paper, we first raise the challenge of evaluating the performance of both humans and models with respect to an oracle which is unobserved. We develop a theory for estimating the accuracy compared to the oracle, using only imperfect human annotations for reference. Our analysis provides a simple recipe for detecting and certifying superhuman performance in this setting, which we believe will assist in understanding the stage of current research on classification. We validate the convergence of the bounds and the assumptions of our theory on carefully designed toy experiments with known oracles. Moreover, we demonstrate the utility of our theory by meta-analyzing large-scale natural language processing tasks, for which an oracle does not exist, and show that under our assumptions a number of models from recent years are with high probability superhuman.

In this paper, we propose a framework for evaluating superhuman models via consistency checks. Our premise is that while the correctness of superhuman decisions may be impossible to evaluate, we can still surface mistakes if the model's decisions fail to satisfy certain logical, human-interpretable rules. We instantiate our framework on three ...

It's flying so fast that following it with my camera is hopeless, so I give up and watch in disbelief. The shrieking whine from the four motors of the racing quadrotor Dopplers up and down as the drone twists, turns, and backflips its way through the square plastic gates of the course at a speed that is literally super-human. I'm cowering behind a safety net, inside a hangar at an airfield ...

In the original SQuAD 1.0 paper [4], the baseline model used logistic regression on a large set of 180 million lexicalized features and dependency tree path features. Its EM/F1 score of 40.0/51.0 was significantly below the human baseline of 80.3/90.5. In the subsequent SQuAD 2.0 paper [2], the
