The CFP Board's Accelerated Path allows qualifying candidates to sit for the CFP ® exam sooner, speeding their path to CFP ® certification.

Candidates who qualify for Accelerated Path can bypass the majority of the coursework CFP Board requires in a standard education pathway, based on knowledge they have gained from other advanced degrees or certification.

Accelerated Path candidates must complete one of the following through a CFP Board Registered Program to be eligible to sit for the CFP ® exam:

• a Capstone course or
• a Capstone Alternative course (only for Accelerated Path candidates who also meet CFP Board's experience requirements)

Who qualifies for the accelerated path.

Previous education and licenses may fulfill CFP Board education requirements and allow you to apply for the exam through the  Accelerated Path .

To qualify for the Accelerated Path, candidates must have one of the following degrees, designations or certifications:

• CFP certification from the Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. (FPSB) Affiliate located in your territory of residence outside the U.S.

Candidates who qualify for Accelerated Path are required to take a Capstone course or complete the Capstone Alternative (an option only for Accelerated Path candidates who also meet CFP Board's experience requirement)

What are the College's courses for Accelerated Path candidates?

Capstone Course (Accelerated Path Candidates) 

• General Financial Planning Principles, Professional Conduct, and Regulation
• Risk Management, Insurance, and Employee Benefits Planning
• Investment Planning
• Income Tax Planning
• Retirement Savings and Income Planning
• Estate Planning

While most Accelerated Path candidates complete the standard Capstone course, the College also offers an Alternative Capstone. The Alternative Capstone is a reduced course in which the standard 45-contact hours in the Capstone course (normally met by viewing OnDemand class sessions) are not required. Capstone Alternative students will move directly to the final project of creating and presenting a comprehensive financial plan.

In order to qualify for the Alternative Capstone, candidates must:

• Meet CFP Board’s qualifications for the Accelerated Path AND the experience requirement
• Candidates must present a certificate of eligibility issued by CFP Board to enroll in this course.

What's the difference between the Capstone and Capstone Alternative courses?

Participating in the Capstone Alternative course is different from the standard Capstone course in two ways: 

1) Contact hours  - The standard capstone course FP517 Financial Plan Development requires 45 hours of classroom contact before students may begin their capstone case study. Participants in the Alternative Capstone proceed directly to working on their capstone project — developing a financial plan. There is no need to meet the classroom contact hours requirement.

2)  Eligibility - Students who enroll in the Capstone Alternative course must:

• Qualify for the Accelerated Path
• Meet CFP Board's experience experience requirement and
• Have a Certificate of Eligibility from CFP Board stating their ability to enroll in the alternative capstone program

Students participating in the Capstone Alternative work directly with a dedicated grading faculty member who helps guide you through the course.

What is the New QP (New Qualification Programme)? The New QP breaks the traditional learning mode, exposing students to real business cases. It encourages students to think independently. Emphasis is placed on demonstrating the ability to make professional decisions, contribute through teamwork and interact in a working group. The New QP utilizes the practical business application of accounting, taxation, auditing and IT. The New QP will comprise three progressive levels with 14 modules and a Capstone, i.e. Associate Level (10 modules), Professional Level (four modules) and Capstone. Workshop There will be five full-day workshops, one at the introduction to the Professional Level and one for each Professional Module.  Students are required to meet the performance indicators of the workshop. Completion of the Introductory Workshop is a pre-requisite to start the Professional Modules.

Each full-day, eight-hour workshop, with one-hour meal break, is filled with active learning activities including case studies with workplace simulation, plenary discussions and team presentations to achieve the prescribed technical and enabling competence requirements.  Workshops are usually conducted during Saturdays and Sundays.  Each workshop is led by two workshop facilitators running a class size of around 24 students.  All activities during the workshop class will be conducted in English. The Capstone The Capstone tests your ability to integrate knowledge and skills from any part of the QP module syllabuses and apply these across all fields of competency, demonstrating a level of skills appropriate to a professional practitioner. What Is A Capstone Project? Explained

A capstone project is the practical embodiment of a student’s learning journey, providing a platform to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world challenges.

A capstone course encompasses a broader educational framework including lectures and workshops. The capstone project is a focused endeavour, whether it be research, creative work, or an internship.

Together, they form a comprehensive capstone experience, designed to prepare students for professional success and demonstrate their readiness to enter their chosen fields.

Dr Andrew Stapleton has a Masters and PhD in Chemistry from the UK and Australia. He has many years of research experience and has worked as a Postdoctoral Fellow and Associate at a number of Universities. Although having secured funding for his own research, he left academia to help others with his YouTube channel all about the inner workings of academia and how to make it work for you.

36-497 corporate capstone project.

36-497 Corporate Capstone Project is a course in which we closely collaborate with both commercial and non-profit partners on real data science problems through educational project agreements. These projects can vary in scope but most commonly center on data integration, visualizations, statistical machine learning algorithms, data analysis and modeling, and proof-of-concept prototypes. Professional development skills such as collaboration and written/oral communication are heavily emphasized.
