Scholarships

Does la trobe offer scholarships how do i apply.

La Trobe University has a range of scholarships on offer for undergraduate, postgraduate and graduate research students.

You can view available scholarships, assessment criteria and apply on our Scholarships page .

How do I apply for a scholarship?

Scholarship applications are made via the Victorian Tertiary Admissions Centre (VTAC) Scholarship or directly via La Trobe. Each scholarship will list the application details and where you can apply.

VTAC applications open in August each year and close in October. You do not need to be a current Year 12 student to use the VTAC system. You can create a VTAC account to access the VTAC scholarship application form. La Trobe offer a mid-year Access round. Applications open around April to June each year and can be made directly via La Trobe.

For all other scholarships listed on our site, applications are made by direct application. You will need to click on the individual scholarship link for further information.

We encourage students to apply for any externally funded scholarships which they may be eligible for. You can view Other Scholarship Opportunities  on our webpage.

How many scholarships can I apply for?

We recommend applying for every scholarship you are eligible for. Students can only accept one La Trobe Scholarship at a time. If your application is successful for more than one scholarship, you will be offered the highest value scholarship. The terms and conditions of the scholarship will be sent in your offer letter.

Can I be offered a scholarship before I enrol at La Trobe University?

Yes. For some of our scholarships, it may be a condition of acceptance that you admit and enrol before the lapse date of your scholarship offer. This will be stated on your offer letter.

When will I hear back regarding my application?

This will vary on the scholarship. We aim to make our offers in line with the VTAC course offer rounds, for students who apply for the VTAC Access Scholarships. However, it may be longer in peak periods. For all students who apply for La Trobe Scholarships directly, an outcome letter will be sent as soon as the offer is determined. We are not able to provide application status updates.

Can I defer my scholarship offer?

Some of our scholarships allow for deferrals for up to a year. Eligible scholarships will list this in the terms and conditions you receive when you are offered a scholarship. Please reply to your offer letter or email [email protected] to check if your scholarship is eligible for deferral.

Can I accept a scholarship offer and enrol part-time?

Some of our scholarships allow for students to study part-time. Eligible scholarships will list this in the terms and conditions you receive when you are offered a scholarship.  Most La Trobe Scholarships are converted to a 50% pro-rata rate for students studying part-time. We recommend you email [email protected] to check if your scholarship is eligible for part-time study.

Can I transfer to another course at La Trobe and keep my scholarship?

Your scholarship offer is based on the course and campus stated in the offer letter. Some scholarships allow you to change course or campus within La Trobe. Eligible scholarships will list this in the terms and conditions you receive when you are offered a scholarship. We recommend you speak with one of our Scholarship team by emailing [email protected] to discuss what options are available to you.
