Al Irfan is a double-blind peer-reviewed journal of Minhaj University, which is published bi-annually. Al-Irfan Research Journal works under (COSIS) College of Shariah and Islamic Sciences, Minhaj University, Lahore, Pakistan. It accepts articles in different languages like Arabic, English, Urdu, etc. This Magazine accepts articles that are written on rare topics such as the Qur'an, Hadith, Fiqh, Seerah, Sufism, Comparison of Religions, History, etc. Al-Irfan  Magazine prefers to publish articles that address current issues. The author/authors should remember that the Journal will accept only original papers. It implies that the work submitted has not been either published or accepted previously except in the form of a thesis, abstract, and review. Only the papers recommended by the referees will be published. However, the author/authors bear the total responsibility for removing the observations and maintaining the accuracy of the paper. The Plagiarism/Similarity should be less than 15 percent. The author should follow the pattern and formatting of the Al-Irfan Research Journal in the citation.

South Asian Journal of Religion and Philosophy (SAJRP)

Zoraiz team has the aim to provide an active platform to the researchers, authors and pen wilders to share their innovative and value-added ideas, thoughts, solutions, and knowledge in the form of scholarly writings. World Islamic Economics and Finance Conference

Muslim economies and financial institutions are striving for decades to develop an Islamic Economic and Finance system with the objective of eliminating poverty and empowering the society. This societal empowerment is not possible with the struggle of a single individual and/or institution. It has to be a joint correlated efforts where every individual, institution, regulator, legislator and leader has to play significant role in achieving the set targets. The beauty of the Islamic economic system is that it provides an opportunity to everyone for participating and contributing to the empowerment of the society.

Today’s world is facing numerous socio-economic, geo-political and environmental challenges. The moderate global economic growth, refugee’s issues, high unemployment rate, poverty, unwanted wars, water shortage, health issues, prevalence of hunger, unpredictable climate changes and the new financial crisis are paving their way to uncertain world economy.

This is the time for the researchers, scholars, students, bankers, executives, entrepreneurs, businessmen,  regulators and legislators to think and answer the question of how the existing issues can be resolved through Islamic Economic System and bringing social innovation; hence, empowering the society under this system. In view of these challenges,Minhaj University Lahore is organizing its 3rd  International Conference on Islamic Economics and Finance under the theme of ‘People  Empowerment, Social Innovation and Role of Islamic Economics’.

The conference will utilize the university’s strength to focus on the consensus that the Islamic Banking and Finance Industry (IBFI) should be more inclined towards ethical and social concerns than the conventional system. Contributors should address research gaps in these areas in particular. Notwithstanding the  continuous discussion and conversation that are currently taking place among academicians, this conference aims to address a specific issue related to people empowerment, inclusion, sustainability and social innovation in particular.

PhD & MPhil level research work on life & work of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri

Scholars around the world are writing their MPhil and PhD theses on the thought, personality, revivalist efforts and ideology of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri as well as Minhaj-ul-Quran International (MQI) that has a network in over 90 countries of the world. A summary of the research work being carried out is given here below:

• Dr Muhammad Rafique Habib al-Azhari has written his PhD thesis on the subject of “A classical Analysis of the Ideology of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri with Special Reference to Islamic Revivalism’ in University of Aberdeen, Scotland, UK.  
• Francesco Chiabotti, an Associate Professor of Islamic Studies in National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilizations located in Paris, has written his PhD thesis of 750 pages on the subject of “The Posthumous Fortune of the Hadith Reported by Qushayri in the Risala” wherein he extensively quoted the works of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri.  
• Dr Naeem Anwar Naumani wrote his PhD thesis for the Karachi University on the services of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri in the field of Hadith Sciences.  
• An Australian student of Melbourne University was writing his PhD thesis on prevalence of extremism amongst the Muslims. What he wrote was contrary to actual teachings of Islam. By the time he was close to completing his work, “FATWA on Terrorism and Suicide Bombings” authored by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri was launched globally. Upon reading it, the student moved an application to the university in which he stated that what he wrote in his thesis did not depict reality. He sought time of 2 years from the University to re-examine and amend his thesis in the light of the FATWA of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri.  
• Dr Fida Hussain Abidi has authored his PhD thesis on “The Scientific Authority of Ahl al-Bayt in the Light of the Qur’an and Sunna” for al-Mustafa University (Qom), Iran. He analyzed the viewpoints of Shia and Ahl al-Sunna especially in the viewpoint of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Dr Tahir al-Qadri that the succession of the Holy Prophet (pbuh) has divided in three kinds: Political Guardianship (wilaya), Religious and Scientific Guardianship, and Spiritual Guardianship.  
• Younus Haydari has completed MPhil thesis in Iran on the religious and intellectual efforts of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.  
• Two PhDs are underway on the renowned books of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri on the topic of ‘Seera al-Rasul (pbuh)’ in al-Azhar University. First PhD relates to the subject of ‘miracles’ discussed in volume 9, while the second PhD thesis is based on ‘Muqaddima Seera al-Rasul’ consisting of two volumes.  
• Zaka Ullah Abbasi has written his MPhil thesis on the topic of linguistic analysis of first two volumes of ‘Seera al-Rasul (pbuh)’ for Northern University, KPK.  
• Muhammad Hussain Azad has completed his MPhil thesis for Minhaj University Lahore on interpretational distinctions of Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri.  
• An MPhil thesis on the role of women in national politics in the light of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s thoughts has been written in Bahauddin Zakrayria University Multan.  
• Another MPhil level thesis has been written on the topic of a comparative analysis of political thoughts of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and Maulana Madoodi at Bahauddin Zakrayia University Multan.  
• A student of Bahauddin Zakrayia University, Multan, has written an MPhil thesis on the subject of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s services for promotion of peace at the global level.  
• The topic of an MPhil thesis is “Comparative analysis of economic thoughts of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and Javed Ahmad Ghamdi” at Bahauddin Zakrayia University, Multan.  
• An MPhil thesis has been written on the topic of “Comparative analysis of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri’s and Imam Ahmad Raza’s thoughts with regard to revolution of earth” for Bahauddin Zakrayia University, Multan.  
• A student of Government College University Lahore has carried out a comparison of book titled Seera al-Rasul (pbuh) written by Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri with other books on the same topic for his BS Honours thesis.  
• PhD is being done on the management aspect of MQI in Arizona State University, USA.  
• Allama Muhammad Ramzan is writing a PhD thesis on the personality and thoughts of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri for Manchester University UK.  
• PhD thesis on the comparative study into thoughts of Dr Tahir-ul-Qadri and Syed Badee-uz-Zaman Noorsi, renowned revolutionary personality of Turkey, on Jihad is underway at Minhaj University Lahore with the collaboration of Noorsi Foundation Turkey.  
• An MPhil thesis on the personality and thought of Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri is being written for Chittagong University, Bangladesh.

It is an honour for Shaykh-ul-Islam Dr Muhammad Tahir-ul-Qadri that so much research work is being done on his personality and ideology in many universities of the world.

Centre of Research and Innovation in Maritime Affairs (CRIMA) has been established since 8th June 2021 at Minhaj University Lahore. Maritime Affairs is an emerging academic field that covers multiple dimensions of the social and scientific studies. The aim of CRIMA is to promote maritime research and innovation in order to explore its potential in Pakistan. The Centre provides new policy insights for Pakistan’s maritime sector and valuable input from the academia for quality research and reliable statistical data. The Ibn-e-Sina LRC, Minhaj University Lahore continue providing remote services and resources to support MUL teaching faculty, students, and staff during the current public health crisis. This page contains all relevant information related to the library's ongoing operations including access to remote services and other useful links.

Free Online Resources

Keeping in view COVID19 and the problem regarding off campus non availability of HEC resources, Library & Resource Center (LRC) of Minhaj University Lahore has designed a special page of selected free databases of books, journal articles, dissertation/theses for faculty, research scholars and students engaged in online classes in order to facilitate them in downloading their academic material. Temporary Access to Electronic Resources

In response to the COVID-19 outbreak, many publishers and vendors are making some or all of their content freely available online for a limited time. We will continue to update this list as we discover new offers from vendors and publishers that fit our criteria. Please contact our library for guidance on assessing individual vendor offers.

Remote Services

During the spring term, LRC staff will continue providing remote services to help the MUL community. Below please find a list of some of the vital remote services we offer. We will update this list as we launch more online services to support research, teaching, and learning at MUL. Document Delivery Servicce (DDS)

If a journal article(s) or book(s) is not available or you could not find your required electronic resource from online databases, the library can get it and deliver electronically. To avail this service, you can write to us at: ([email protected]). We shall try to find your required document and respond within 24 hours.

Ask a Librarian

• You may contact (+92 3234676056) regarding LRC related support. • Schedule a remote consultation to discuss your project with the LRC team and receive research support, and more. • Call or email us. Libraries staff will review and respond to messages during regular business hours.

Circulation (Borrowing & Returns) & Interlibrary Loan Services

Material can be borrowed from the LRC through the following method; • Browse library catalog from using OPAC "https://lrc.mul.edu.pk" • Select required book from the LRC catalog (http://67.231.244.150:5135/) and send an email of bibliographic information to designated email address [email protected] • All selected books will be available at the main gate desk along with requester details, please visit main gate and collect your required book after acknowledgment sign. • You are bound to collect your material from the designated place because it will hold/ reserves for only two days. • Loan periods are extended, and fine policy will also be suspended until the library reopened. • The interlibrary loan (ILL) requests will also be suspended until the Libraries reopen.

Support for MUL Researchers

LRC staff will continue to provide remote assistance to support MUL researchers through each stage of their research life-cycle. • Research Consultations: LRC team is available for one-on-one remote meetings to discuss LRC and research related queries.

Library Membership

• MUL students can get and fill the library membership form available with circulation desk.
• After data entry and verification of membership form, he/ she may access the library resources during library hours.
• The MUL library will issue a unique ID card which will be used as Library Card.

Library Fines

To encourage timely return of library materials and to provide optimal sharing of the collections, fines are charged for overdue items. Borrowers are responsible for returning or renewing items by the due date. If items are not returned within the due date, fines will be charged from the first overdue day at the following rates.

• Overdue General Books: Rs.10 per book per day.
• Lost Books: In case of loss or damage, the student will be charged two times the current price of the item.

General Rules & Regulations

Readers and members shall not damage, mark or write upon any book, periodical, nor shall be trace or perform mechanical reproduction of any material belonging to the Library without written permission of the Director Libraries. Readers and members who violate this regulation shall be required to pay the fine imposed by the administration or to replace the damaged material, or to pay its price as determined by the library administration.

• Borrowers and readers are advised to inspect books at the time of issue and to call the Attention of the Circulation Librarian to any defects.
• Leave your personal belongings such as handbags, briefcases, etc., outside the library entrance, on your own responsibility. The library disclaims any liability for loss or damage.
• After reading, leave books on the table. Please do not shelve the books.
• Complete silence should be observed except for brief and subdued talk with the library staff.
• Drinks and eatables are not allowed in the library.
• Smoking is strictly prohibited inside the library.
• Keep your mobiles silent within the library premises.

Students need to get clearance from all departmental libraries before main library.

Library remains open 7 days a week.

Monday – Thursday:             8:30 am to 4:30 pm Friday:             8:30 am to 9:00 pm Saturday:         1:00 pm to 9:00 pm Sunday:           9:00 am to 5:00 pm

The Admission intakes for Spring and Fall in various degree programs are announced well in advance through the official website of the University and advertisements in print and electronic media.

Undergraduate Programs ( Morning, Weekday Classes )

• For ADP/BS:Minimum 45% Marks in intermediate /A-Level or equivalent.
• For BS 5th/Bridging: Minimum 45% marks in 14 years qualification or equivalent.
• For L.L.B (5 years): Minimum 45% marks in Intermediate and 50% marks in LAT (conducted by HEC).
• For CS & IT: Minimum 50% marks in Intermediate 12 years of schooling/A-Level or equivalent with Mathematics are required. The students who have not studied Mathematics at intermediate level will have to pass deficiency courses of Mathematics (06 credits) in first two semesters.
• For Pharm-D: Minimum 60% marks in FSc Pre-medical and 50% marks in MUL admission test.
• For BSc Chemical/Electrical Engineering: Minimum 60% marks in FSc (Pre-Engineering), ICS, relevant DAE or Equivalent A-levels. Minimum 33% marks in UET-ECAT/NTS-NAT (IE)/ entry test conducted by NED-UET/MUET/NUST/ ETEA and remaining admission criteria set by all the relevant accredited councils and bodies.

Postgraduate Programs ( Weekend Classes )

• For M.Phil: Sixteen (16) years qualification with a minimum 2.0 out of 4.0 CGPA or 50% marks (in case of the annual system). Minimum 50% marks in GAT (General) conducted by NTS, 60% marks in MUL Aptitude Test (MAT-General) or GRE (General) conducted by ETS.
• For PhD:Eighteen (18) years qualification in relevant field/discipline with a minimum of 3.00 out of 4.0 CGPA with thesis. The candidate also have to acquire minimum 60% marks in GAT (subject) conducted by NTS, GRE (Subject) conducted by ETS or 70% marks in MUL Subject Aptitude Test along with passing the interview. In case of having a foreign degree of previous qualification, an equivalence certificate from HEC is mandatory.

Admission Process

• At the time of admission, students will be required to submit the signed Undertaking, (to pledge that the provided information is correct and M.phil/ PhD candidates will pass the GAT general through MUL or NTS, if not, they will not be considered eligible to carry out their research work or take comprehensive examination), attested copies of all the documents, degrees, and certificates along with the originals for verification at the time of submission.
• On completion of all the formalities including passing of test and interview (if applicable), and submission of required documents; the Directorate of Admissions will issue a challan form for payment of the admission and related miscellaneous charges to be submitted in MUL’s account office/ bank account.
• Student will not be enrolled until the fees is deposited within the stipulated time period and presented as an evidence by the deposit of a copy of the fees challan at the admission office.
