How to Make a Great “Any Questions” Final PowerPoint Slide (PPT)

Close your PowerPoint presentation with an inspiring Q&A (any questions) slide to engage your audience. Learn how to create the best questions PowerPoint slides and when to use them in this tutorial.

Hero Any Questions Final Slide PowerPoint

We tend to think of presentations as our chance to speak to an audience. Some of the best presentations I’ve attended ended with a “question and answer” (Q&A) session where the audience can ask the speaker questions.

q&a presentation slide

In Microsoft PowerPoint, you can build slides that facilitate the Q&A part of your presentation. A well-designed Q&A slide may lead the audience to ask an interesting question.

In this tutorial, I’ll teach you to end your presentation by interacting with your audience. We’ll work on designing a questions slide in PowerPoint. You’ll learn how to ask for questions from the audience and answer them confidently.

How to Ask for Questions and Spark Audience Participation

I’ve sat through many presentations that close with the presenter sheepishly asking, “Uh, any questions?”

Asking this way will virtually guarantee that the audience won’t ask a question. The audience may start clapping before anyone even works up the courage to ask a question!

4 Ways to Ask for Questions

There are better ways to ask for questions. Instead of using the bland “any questions?” phrase that’ll leave the audience slack-jawed. Try out something more creative to actually elicit questions.

Classics PowerPoint template on Envato Elements

These are four techniques that I’ve personally used to inspire questions from the audience:

  • Seed someone in the audience like a friend or colleague to ask the first question. Sometimes, having someone break through the silence and ask the first question will help others speak up or ask follow-up questions.
  • Answer your own question at the end of the presentation. Use phrasing like, “When I first started this project, my main question was…” Doing so will spark questions for audience members.
  • Consider asking for questions somewhere in the mid-point of the presentation when the content is still fresh and relevant.
  • Use a creative way of asking for questions in a persuasive presentation, such as “What’s the part of my presentation you most disagree with, and why?” This can create spirited discussions with audience members and can start an open dialogue.

How to Prepare for Audience Questions

Many presenters will skip including a Q&A altogether. I think there’s a simple explanation for why many presenters don’t ask for questions from the audience: fear.

Many presenters fear being caught off-guard by the audience’s questions. You never know what the audience may be wondering before you ask for questions. That uncertainty leads presenters to exclude it altogether.

While you can never be certain of the questions you’ll receive, you can take steps to prepare for the questions you’re most likely to hear from the audience.

Consider these tips when you’re preparing for the Q&A part of your presentation:

  • Give your presentation to a smaller audience before the major presentation. Using that as a test run for questions may help you prepare for the same questions you’ll receive later on.
  • Think about the questions you answered in your own mind while preparing the presentation. Chances are that the audience will share many of the same questions and want to hear how you arrived at your conclusion.
  • Create backup slides that have extra data or charts on them to explain answers to possible questions your audience will raise. Having that perfect supplemental chart hiding at the end can really wow your audience when you’ve prepared for the question.

Essentially, you should spend time trying to anticipate what the audience is going to ask. Put yourself in their shoes and consider their background, and the questions they have may become obvious.

Above all: it’s okay if you don’t know the answer to all the audience’s questions. Generally, the questions will be open-ended and there’s no “correct” answer, and the audience will just want to know what your thoughts are.

If it’s a specific question that requires a numeric answer that you need to research, simply follow up with the audience member after the presentation with your findings. It’s okay to say, “I’ll get back to you with that answer.”

3 Strong Designs for Your Closing Slide

So far, we’ve talked about how to make the Q&A part of your presentation engaging. Let’s dive into creating the last slide in PowerPoint to show on screen to encourage questions from your audience.

In this section, we’ll also take a look at two other approaches for closing out your presentation. I’ll offer more designs and content ideas for closing out your presentation in a strong way.

For this tutorial, I’m going to make recommendations for how to create an engaging closing slide using the Clean PowerPoint theme .

Clean PowerPoint theme on Envato Elements

Clean is a PowerPoint theme that’s available on Envato Elements. The template has a modern and minimal design so your audience can focus on the content of your presentation. It also comes with more than 50 unique slides, plenty of vector icons, and image placeholders.

Let’s look at how to use Eureka for customizing three different closing slides:

1. The “Thank You” Slide

A Q&A slide could say “any questions?”, but you could also use that questions slide in PowerPoint to thank the audience and verbally ask for questions. This is a simple way to show gratitude that the audience took time to listen.

Clean has a pre-built slide to thank the audience for their attendance. Use thank you PowerPoint slide design #48, which has everything you need. You can also add a background image by clicking on the placeholder and choosing an image on your computer.

Thank you slide

It’s a basic slide, but using Clean’s “Thank you” placeholder (slide #48) is a great example of premium themes saving time.

2. The “Any Questions?” Slide?

Now, let’s take a look at questions slide designs that work well for asking for questions from the audience.

The first of these is PowerPoint slide design #23. It’s a simple pre-built slide with few text blocks and a “What we do?” as the presentation placeholder text. Easily change the slide to create an “Any questions?” slide and use the placeholder text to add your own questions that’ll help spark the conversation.

Slide design #23 has a Q&A design.

These question slides could also contain follow-up information. If you’re going to send your presentation (instead of presenting it from an audience) you can use a questions slide like this to add your follow-up contact details.

Slide #29 is another simple yet attractive slide.

Simply substitute the placeholder text for “Any questions?”

A Q&A slide should be something simple that doesn’t distract the audience. The audience’s attention should be on the Q&A session itself, and not the visuals in the background.

3. The “Contact Us” Slide

The “Contact Us” slide is a great choice for the final slide in sales presentations, fundraising pitches, and any type of presentation that opens up the opportunity for follow-up communications.

In the Clean theme, check out the PowerPoint slide design 25, titled “Stay in Touch with Us.” This presentation slide template is ready for you to add your social media links. This slide design is perfect if you’re telling the story of your business and asking the audience to follow you on social media.

Slide #25 is for contact details.

The Right Way to do a Question Slide in your PowerPoint Presentation

01.20.20   •  #powerpointtips #presentation #engagement.

You just finished your presentation. You’re asking your audience if there are any questions. Nobody, or one or two people at best raise their hands, but you’re quite sure that your audience actually has a lot more to ask. Does that sound familiar?

If it does (which is likely, as many presenters experience that phenomenon), you’re in the right place. Some may take the silence after asking the audience if there are any questions personal, as if they are not a good enough speaker or as if they just held a terrible presentation. Others may be happy and think that they explained everything so well that there are no more questions to ask. In reality, probably none of those is the case. It all comes down to the way you ask questions – and here’s how to ask them (well – first here’s how not to ask them!)

q&a presentation slide

How not to ask Questions

The absolute worst, but sadly often used method to ask your audience about any questions they have is the “Any Questions?” – Slide, which is, like you may guess from the name, a simple slide at the end of the presentation with the words “Questions?” or “Any Questions?” on it. Why is it so bad? Well, first of all, it’s extremely unspecific. It’s likely to overwhelm your attendees. They will try to force their brains to think of something to ask, but due to the amount of information you just gave them in your presentation often can’t think of anything. Another factor is the fear of public speaking many have. There may be someone in the audience who wants to ask a question, but is too shy to raise their hand and actually ask it – often out of fear of asking a “stupid” question.

q&a presentation slide

How to ask Questions (in order to get Questions)

So here is what you came for: Better ways to get your audience to talk to you and actually ask about what they would like to know.

1. Use a Q&A Tool

Let your audience ask questions via their smartphones or notebooks – even anonymously – and be sure no one ever holds back any questions. Q&A tools such as SlideLizard are integrated seamlessly to PowerPoint. Your attendees connect their devices with your presentation and are then able to send in as many questions as they want by simply typing them into their phones. The question will arrive directly at your presenter’s view. You’ll see it immediately after it has been asked. The huge advantage is that you can answer the questions even during the presentation, or wait until after you’ve finished. Also, be sure to invite your audience at the beginning to ask any questions they have via the Q&A tool, and inform them about when you will answer them.

q&a presentation slide

2. Ask specific questions

We recommend leaving out the “Any Questions?” slide at the end, but if you still insist on using something similar, this is the way to go. It is an insanely easy tip, but it has great impact. Instead of just asking if there are any questions, you just assume there are some and ask your own questions accordingly. Here are some good examples:

  • What was unclear?
  • What else would you like to know?
  • What would you like to know more about?
  • What was missing in my presentation?
  • What was surprising for you?
  • What was new to you?
  • What did you find most interesting?

Notice how none of these questions can be answered with “Yes” or “No”. That is key to getting your audience to actually reflect on the input and talk. Also, don’t fill your slides with all of these reflective questions, as that may again overwhelm the audience. Decide what you would like to know and use 1 – 3 of the prompts.

q&a presentation slide

3. Do a Poll/Quiz at the end

Even though this is not a conventional way of a Q&A session, it will still show you and your audience whether they have understood what you just talked about or not. Create a little trivia quiz and test your audience. By looking at the result of each individual question, you’ll see if you have to explain something again or if the majority already got it. For this method, you can again use tools like SlideLizard , that have an integrated poll function where you can analyze the results even after the presentation is done. Of course, you can also combine this third method with one of the previous ones.

A good beginning and ending are essential for giving an awesome presentation – similar to a book. The beginning makes you want to keep on reading, and the ending makes it memorable. What is a question and answer slide in powerpoint presentation.

The goal of the Q&A slides is to promote a planned and organized session in which the audience may ask questions and the presenter or panelists can respond and engage in further conversation.

What To Include In A Question And Answer Slide PPT Template?

When creating a question and answer slide in a PowerPoint template, it’s critical to incorporate vital aspects that promote clear communication and interaction with your audience. Here are some suggestions for to include in a question and answer slide PPT template:

  • Question Section:  Make a spot on the slide where you may display the questions from the audience. To highlight each question, use a basic bullet point list or a dedicated box. If there are a lot of queries, try utilizing many slides or, if feasible, introducing a scrolling capability.
  • Answer Section:  Set aside a section of the slide to display the answers to the questions. To answer each question, you can use a bullet point list or paragraphs.
  • Visual Enhancements:  Use appropriate pictures to make the slide visually appealing and engaging. You may use symbols, photos, or graphics related to the Q&A session or the topic under discussion.

How to Nail the Q&A After Your Presentation

  • Caroline Webb

q&a presentation slide

You can’t rehearse it, but you can be prepared.

When preparing to give a presentation, most professionals focus their energy on the main portion of their talk — their key messages, slides, and takeaways. And far too few people think through how you’ll answer questions at the end of the presentation can be a big mistake. If you’re worried about how to hand the Q&A, there are several things you can do. Change your mindset. Rather than dreading this part of the talk, develop an appreciation for the conversation. It’s a good thing that people have follow-up questions and want to further engage with your content. Beforehand, think through the types of questions audience members might ask. Put yourself in your shoes and ask yourself what concerns they might have about how your message impacts their job. Then, when you’re asked a question, especially one that might be contentious, start your answer by focusing on where you and the person asking it agree. This makes the person feel seen and connected to you. And if you’re asked a question out of left field, be curious. Ask follow-up questions that help you understand what they’re getting at and where they’re coming from.

If you’re not a huge fan of public speaking , you’re in good company. It’s such a widely shared source of anxiety that when psychologists want to induce unpleasant stress in a person for experimental purposes, they often use a public speaking task called the Trier Social Stress Test . The test requires people to give a talk and do sums in front of a panel of impassive listeners, and it reliably generates stress markers such as a faster heart rate, raised cortisol levels, and “enhanced skin conductance,” which is the polite way of saying sweaty palms.

Article's hero media

At just 17 years old, Shree took home the top prize at the first ever Google Science Fair for her research on drug resistance in ovarian cancer. Now, a senior at Harvard, she’s met with President Obama twice, crowdfunded a Minecraft computer program to support STEM education, and has given talks across the globe. But she still gets nervous every time she’s asked to speak at events.

When Shree recently visited our New York office to present to 200 middle school students, we invited her to try a new feature in  Google Slides : Slides Q&A. This update — rolling out globally today — helps speakers connect with their audience and collect real-time feedback. With a simple link displayed on a Slides presentation, audience members can submit questions from their phones, laptops, and tablets — and vote on those they want answered the most.

Hear what your audience has to say

PPT Q&A Slide for Presentation

IT Service Delivery Management PPT Slide Template

The image shows a PowerPoint slide titled “Q&A Slide,” designed for an interactive question and answer session in a presentation or meeting context.

The slide is neatly organized into two halves. On the left side, there is a monochrome photograph that captures a group of people in a meeting, seated in a circle, suggesting an environment where discussions and Q&A sessions take place. Overlaid on the photo are two circles with the numbers “01” and “02,” representing a sequence of questions.

Corresponding to these circles, the right side of the slide features a structured layout with two columns titled “Question” and “Answer.” Each column has its own set of numbers “01” and “02,” aligning with the numbers on the left. This setup provides spaces to present a question and then directly show the corresponding answer. Placeholder text beneath each title suggests where the detailed content is to be inserted.

This slide is designed to facilitate clear communication during Q&A segments in various scenarios, such as corporate presentations, educational lectures, workshops, or panel discussions. It allows the presenter to prepare responses to anticipated questions or to display questions and answers that arise during the session, providing a structured and engaging way to address the audience’s inquiries.

A better Q&A starts by ditching the questions slide

q&a presentation slide

An effective PowerPoint presentation is complementary. It enhances what the speaker is saying by summarizing information, giving additional details, or visualizing what’s being discussed.

Ask yourself, which of those does a “Thank you!” or “Questions?” slide accomplish? It’s a missed opportunity. There are better alternatives that drive home the key points of your presentation and help the audience retain some of what you said days, and weeks, later.

You can still thank the audience. You can still ask for questions. But your PowerPoint should be doing something else, something complementary. Here are some suggestions to help you replace that questions slide with a more effective alternative.

I’ve included those suggestions below. But first: a quick primer on the science of an effective presentation.

How do you make your ending memorable?

Dr. Carmen Simon, cognitive neuroscientist and founder of Memzy , has written extensively about how to structure an effective, memorable presentation.

“Ultimately, recall is impacted by inconsistency or a deviation from the pattern,” wrote Simon. “An audience will remember the ending more if it is highly inconsistent with the rest of the presentation. This is because distinctiveness can only be judged relative to the number of items you have shown an audience.”

An effective ending is distinct from the rest of your presentation.

It’s a break from the norm. If you’ve been lecturing for an hour, close on a video. If you’ve been hosting an open forum, close on a personal anecdote. Get creative.

Fielding questions is also an excellent choice. However, an open mic and a questions slide is going to be too intimidating for some audience members. In the time it normally takes you to hear from one person, you could be collecting insights from the entire audience. Here’s how:

Replace the questions slide with a live poll

An audience response system such as Poll Everywhere lets the audience submit questions simultaneously from the privacy of their phones. Feedback is instant and appears live in PowerPoint for everyone to see.

Poll Everywhere also lets respondents upvote questions from their peers. Questions that receive more votes move to the top of the list, so you know exactly what the audience needs to hear.

Instead of a Q&A, you could also take this opportunity to surprise the audience with a pop quiz. A few multiple-choice questions covering what you discussed forces them to become active participants instead of passive listeners. This mental shift will help improve retention.

If the audience does poorly on a particular question, you can take the opportunity to quickly recap that section of your presentation. If they ace the whole thing, then your work is done.

Transform your final slide into a resource

Don’t forget that the end of your presentation needs to be different from what came before. If you already used an audience response system throughout your presentation, its effectiveness at the end will be diminished. If that’s the case, here’s one last piece of advice: make your final slide a shareable resource.

On your final slide, list out a summary of key takeaways from your presentation as a bulleted list.

Consider adding some personal contact information if people have follow-up questions. At a minimum, include resources where people can learn more.

Suggest that the audience snap a photo of the slide using their phones, or even print out physical copies and distribute them during the Q&A. The audience will appreciate it more than a “Thank you!” slide.

“Ultimately, recall is impacted by inconsistency or a deviation from the pattern. An audience will remember the ending more if it is highly inconsistent with the rest of the presentation.” – Dr. Carmen Simon

350 Top Q&A Questions to Expect for Any Presentations (Save Them Now!)

Preparing the slide content is nothing compared to dealing with daunting questions during the Q&A session of a presentation. Sometimes, if we are not lucky, we will face a tough crowd with even tougher questions that may leave us feeling challenged on the spot. And none of us likes the awkward moment of not being able to provide a satisfactory response to the audience.

Answering Q&A questions is a skill that everyone can master with the right resources and the right amount of preparation. You’ve searched, and we have them for you.

In this article, you will find more than 300 Q&A questions that are most commonly asked in a wide range of presentation occasions. Save them so you can be ready for even the most unexpected questions in your upcoming presentations!

What Are Q&A Questions?

Q&A questions, short for “Questions and Answers”, are inquiries posed by an audience or participants to the speaker or presenter during the Q&A session of a presentation . This Q&A segment typically follows a presentation, a talk or a lecture, providing the opportunities for the audience to seek clarification, ask additional information, or understand the speaker’s perspectives.

The whole point of Q&A sessions is to make the presentation more interactive and foster engagement . It’s a chance for the audience to pick the speaker’s brain and get a better understanding of the subject.

How to Make a Good PowerPoint Presentation: Essential Tips for Impactful Slides

Creating a compelling PowerPoint presentation can transform how we convey our ideas and keep our audience engaged. Whether we are presenting to a room full of executives or sharing data with our colleagues, the key to a successful presentation lies in clarity and simplicity . Let’s explore some practical steps to achieve this goal.

A laptop displaying a well-organized slide deck with clear headings, bullet points, and relevant images. A confident presenter stands beside it, engaging the audience

We should start by identifying our audience and tailoring our message to meet their expectations. If our audience consists of industry experts, we’ll dive deeper into technical details. On the other hand, a broader audience may require us to simplify complex concepts, using visuals and clear language to illustrate our points effectively.

A well-crafted presentation also depends on the visual appeal of our slides. Using custom fonts, as well as adhering to the 6×6 rule (no more than six words per line and six lines per slide), helps to maintain an uncluttered look. Engaging visuals, such as high-quality images, data graphs, and minimal text, can make our slides more captivating and easier to follow. A thoughtful design ensures that our key points resonate with the audience, making our presentation not just informative but also memorable.

Crafting Compelling Content

Creating a compelling PowerPoint presentation requires a clear message, engaging visuals, and multimedia that enhance understanding. We will now explore how to structure your message, use visual aids and graphics, and incorporate multimedia elements.

Structuring Your Message

A well-structured message is essential for a successful presentation. Start with a clear introduction to outline your main points. Use bullet points to keep information concise and organized.

Each slide should focus on one key idea to prevent information overload. Connect ideas smoothly to keep the flow. Employ logic and sequence that your audience can effortlessly follow. We need to repeat key messages for emphasis and reinforce the main points.

A good storyline often helps. Relate your information to a real-life story or scenario to make it memorable. Engage with the audience by asking questions or prompting thought.

Visual Aids and Graphics

Visual aids and graphics help convey complex information swiftly and clearly. High-quality photos , informative charts, and relevant diagrams can make a big impact.

Use bold text to highlight important points and guide the viewers’ focus. Choose harmonious colors to maintain visual appeal and ensure everything is readable. Avoid cluttering your slides with too many graphics—less is more.

Proper use of images can underscore your talking points. Select visuals that are directly related to your content. Infographics are particularly effective for breaking down data into digestible pieces.

Incorporating Multimedia Elements

Multimedia elements like animations, videos, and audio clips can add depth to your presentation. However, use them sparingly and ensure they enhance rather than distract.

Short video clips can provide powerful examples or testimonials. Animations can illustrate processes or changes over time. Make sure any multimedia used is of high quality and relevant to the presented information.

Audio clips can also engage an audience, especially in underscoring critical points. Test all multimedia elements beforehand to avoid technical glitches. Ensure a smooth integration of media with your discoursed content.

Proper balance and careful selection of these elements can greatly enhance the clarity and engagement of your presentation.

Designing Professional Slides

Creating an engaging PowerPoint presentation involves choosing the right templates, mastering visual hierarchy, and applying consistent formatting. These elements ensure your presentation is visually appealing, easy to follow, and professional.

Choosing the Right Templates

Starting with a well-designed template sets the tone for your presentation. It’s like choosing the right outfit for an important event. We recommend using templates from Envato Elements as they encompass a variety of stylish and professional designs.

To select an effective template, consider:

  • Relevance: Ensure the template’s design aligns with your topic.
  • Simplicity: Avoid overly complicated templates that distract from your content.
  • Flexibility: Choose templates that allow customization for your color scheme, fonts, and slide layout.

Templates should enhance your content, not overshadow it. By picking the right one, we can effortlessly create visually appealing slides.

Mastering Visual Hierarchy

Visual hierarchy is crucial for guiding the audience’s attention to key points. In PowerPoint, this means structuring your slides to highlight the most important information first.

We should focus on:

  • Headlines: Use larger, bold fonts for headings to grab attention.
  • Contrast: Make critical data pop with contrasting colors. For instance, a bright text color on a dark background.
  • Spacing: Adequate spacing or “white space” helps prevent clutter and makes slides easier to read.

By effectively managing visual hierarchy, our slides will communicate information more efficiently, allowing our audience to retain the key messages better.

Applying Consistent Formatting

Consistency in formatting reinforces professionalism. It’s our secret sauce for a polished presentation. Here’s how to ensure uniformity:

  • Fonts: Stick to 1-2 fonts throughout the presentation. Mixing too many fonts can be jarring.
  • Color Scheme: Use a cohesive color palette that complements the chosen template. Tools like Adobe Color can help choose harmonious color schemes.
  • Alignment: Align text and images neatly on each slide for a clean look.

Maintaining consistent formatting helps avoid distractions. It’s all about the details— consistent design lets our content shine and keeps our audience focused.

Delivering With Confidence

Confidence during a presentation can be the difference between leaving a lasting impression or blending into the crowd. By engaging your audience and skillfully handling Q&A sessions, you’ll demonstrate authority and leave a meaningful impact.

Engaging Your Audience

Engaging your audience starts with preparation. Practice your presentation thoroughly to become familiar with the content and flow. Rehearsing in front of a mirror or with friends can help fine-tune your delivery. Maintaining eye contact creates a connection with your audience, making them feel involved.

Use stories and anecdotes to bring your points to life, keeping the listeners interested. Interactive elements, like asking questions or incorporating polls, encourage participation. Your enthusiasm is contagious, so make sure it shines through.

Varying your tone and pace can prevent monotony and highlight key points. Avoid filler words; they can undermine your message. Instead, take pauses to emphasize important ideas, adding a dramatic effect and giving your audience time to absorb information. This way, we keep their attention and ensure our message is clear and memorable.

Handling Q&A Sessions

Handling Q&A sessions effectively can significantly boost your credibility. Start by encouraging questions, showing that you welcome dialogue. Listen carefully to each question without interrupting, demonstrating respect for your audience’s contributions.

When responding, keep answers concise, addressing the core of the question. If you don’t know an answer, it’s okay to admit it. Offer to follow up after the presentation, illustrating your commitment to providing accurate information.

Encourage questions Listen attentively Be concise It’s okay to say “I don’t know”

Stay calm and collected, even if faced with challenging questions. Use the opportunity to showcase your expertise and reinforce the points made during your presentation. Avoid defensive attitudes and approach each question with a positive and open mindset. This approach will leave a positive, lasting impression on your viewers.

Leveraging PowerPoint Tools

When it comes to mastering PowerPoint, understanding the Ribbon is crucial. The Ribbon holds tabs like Home, File, Insert, Transitions, and Slide Show. Each offers unique tools to enhance our presentations.

The Home Tab is our starting point. We can easily add and format text, create bullet points, and apply text styles. It’s our go-to for basic slide management.

Next, the File Tab offers many behind-the-scenes controls. Saving, sharing, and exporting presentations is a cinch here. Plus, we can adjust settings to better fit our workflow.

For adding content, the Insert Tab is indispensable. From images to charts and tables, everything we need to make our slides pop lives here. Embedding videos or audio can really spice things up!

Text formatting, slide layout Quick text and layout adjustments
Save, share, export Manage presentation settings
Images, charts, media Enhance slides with visuals
Slide transitions Add visual transitions
Presentation mode Prepare for live delivery

Transitions Tab is where the magic happens. Here, we can add smooth transitions between slides. It’s all about adding that extra flair to keep our audience engaged.

Before delivering our presentation, we head to the Slide Show Tab . We can rehearse timings, set up Presenter View, and fine-tune our delivery. Presenter View is a game-changer, showing speaker notes and slide previews.

Using these tools effectively will make our PowerPoint presentations not only professional but also engaging.

Share slides in Microsoft Teams meetings with PowerPoint Live

PowerPoint Live in Teams gives both the presenter and audience an inclusive and engaging experience, combining the best parts of presenting in PowerPoint with the connection and collaboration of a Microsoft Teams meeting.

Your browser does not support video. Install Microsoft Silverlight, Adobe Flash Player, or Internet Explorer 9.

When you’re the presenter, you have a unique view that lets you control your presentation while staying engaged with your audience, seeing people’s video, raised hands, reactions, and chat as needed.

And if you’re an audience member, you can interact with the presentation and personalize your viewing experience with captions, high contrast slides, and slides translated into your native language.

Here’s how it works:

Tip:  Are you an audience member? Jump down to learn more about how you can interact during the presentation.

PowerPoint presentation in Teams

Present your slides

PowerPoint Live sharing file options

If you're in PowerPoint for the web, select Present > Present in Teams .

Your slides will appear in the Teams meeting, with your Notes next to them.

Navigate through the slides

Navigation arrows in PowerPoint Live

Use the navigation arrows to go forward and backward.

Use the thumbnail strip to jump ahead or backwards.

Select Go to slide to see a grid view of all slides in the presentation. Select one to jump to it.

Stay connected to the audience

One of the benefits of using PowerPoint Live to present instead of sharing your screen is that you have quick access to all your meeting tools you need to engage with the audience and to read the room in one view. This is especially true if you’re presenting from a single screen.

Turn Chat on or off to view what your audience is saying.

See audience reactions and raised hands in real-time.

Change the Layout of your presentation and choose how your live camera feed appears in your presentation, like Standout or Cameo . It helps the audience read your non-verbal cues and keeps them engaged.

Use the Laser pointer , Pen , Highlighter , or Eraser to clearly reference items on your slides.

Audience view

As an audience member, you’re able to personalize your experience without affecting anyone else. Try these options to find what works best for you:

Select Sync to Presenter, next to the navigation arrows

Note:  If presenters don't want people to be able to independently navigate through a PowerPoint file they are sharing, use the  Private view  toggle to turn it off.

Click any hyperlink on slides to get more context right away.

Interact with videos on slides to adjust the volume or jump to a timestamp and consume it at your own pace.

Use a screen reader to get full access to the slide content.

Select Translate slides

Switch to a high contrast view to make the slides easier to view if you have low vision. Select More options > View slides in high contrast .

Your viewing experience will be at a higher fidelity, letting you see crisp text and smooth animations. PowerPoint Live also requires significantly less network bandwidth than typical sharing, making it the best option when network connectivity is a problem.

Independent magnifying and panning

You can zoom in and pan on a presentation slide without affecting what others see. Use your mouse, trackpad, keyboard, touch, or the Magnify Slide option as applicable.

To zoom in or out on a slide, do any one of the following:

Hover over the slideshow and pinch or stretch on trackpad.

Pinch or use the stretch touch gesture (on a touch-enabled device).

Press the + or – keys.

Hover over slide, hold down Ctrl key and scroll with mouse wheel.

In the More Actions menu, click the + or – buttons.

To pan around your slide, do any one of the following:

Press the arrow keys.

Click and drag using a mouse.

Click and drag on a trackpad.

Use one finger to touch and drag (on touch-enabled device).

When done zooming and panning, press  Esc to reset your screen.

Important:

PowerPoint Live is not supported in Teams live events, CVI devices, and VTC devices.

If you're using Teams on the web, you’ll need Microsoft Edge 18 or later, or Google Chrome 65 or later, to see the presenter view.

Presenter view is hidden by default for small screen devices but can be turned on by selecting More options below the current slide and then Show presenter view (or by selecting the sharing window and then pressing Ctrl+Shift+x).

Meetings recordings won’t capture any videos, animations, or annotation marks in the PowerPoint Live session.

When you share from Teams, the PowerPoint Live section lists the most recent files you've opened or edited in your team SharePoint site or your OneDrive. If you select one of these files to present, all meeting participants will be able to view the slides during the meeting. Their access permissions to the file outside of the meeting won't change.

If you select Browse and choose to present a PowerPoint file that hasn't been uploaded to Teams before, it will get uploaded as part of the meeting. If you're presenting in a channel meeting, the file is uploaded to the Files tab in the channel, where all team members will have access to it. If you're presenting in a private meeting, the file is uploaded to your OneDrive, where only the meeting participants will be able to access it.
