Having spent your day saving lives, you shouldn’t now have to put in the effort to use a cover letter generator or  craft your perfect resume . Even if you’ve already written one, you still need to  update your resume  to fit the job description.

Why this resume works

  • We recommend including metrics for as many of your bullet points as possible, or at least 80 percent of them. For example, think about the number of patients you saw per shift, the amount of time saved by avoiding traffic, the amount of time you saved during shifts, your compliance with laws and policies, and areas where you boosted efficiency in co-worker communication, hospital communication, or treatment.

  • One thing you need to include on your emergency medical technician resume is a  resume skills section . You must have unique skills that match the  job description  to demonstrate you have the necessary abilities to preserve the lives of your patients and keep you and your co-workers safe, such as knowledge of first aid and basic life support.
  • The skills section is critical because hiring managers often use resume reading software called ATS to throw out resumes that do not match at least 80 percent of the job skills they’re seeking.

  • Your entry-level EMT resume can include experience that isn’t part of a job, such as healthcare-related volunteer work or relevant healthcare courses. Don’t forget to add any medical licenses or certifications you have, too!

Why the EMT Resume is Important

When applying for a position as an emergency medical technician (EMT) a strong EMT resume is very important. This is especially true for an EMT resume with no experience in the field (entry-level EMT resume). The resume gives employers insight into who you are as a person and who you will be as a working professional. It lets employers know if you are an EMT who can properly fill out paperwork and who has good judgement.

The EMT resume also gives them an idea about whether you are detail oriented or sloppy. For new EMTs the resume is a great opportunity to stand out and set yourself above other EMTs applying for the same position.

Parts of the EMT Resume

There are a few different options for putting together your EMT resume. An entry-level EMT resume will focus on different areas than an EMT with 20 years experience will. However, good resumes should include most of the following sections.

The heading section will include your name, address, phone number, and email address. This information can be centered or placed to the right or left side of the page.

2. Objective

The objective section is only about 1-3 sentences long and should be brief and to the point. It should include the position you are applying for and the name of the institution you are applying at. This is important so that the EMT resume feels unique to each employer and not generic.

The objective section is also your first opportunity to stand out as an individual and make a connection with the person reading your resume. You want to show your passion for the specific job you’re applying for and verbalize what skills you have that give you the expertise to do job.

This sounds like a lot to do in only a few sentences, so there are a couple EMT resume samples to help clarify at the bottom of this post.

3. Education

The education section has some flexibility depending on how many schools you have attended and how many degrees you have. You should list schools attended and diplomas and degrees received along with the relevant dates.

However, if you went to four different High Schools, just write the one you graduated from with the date of your diploma. If you have a bachelor’s or master’s degree you might not even want to list your high school.

If your GPA is 3.0 or higher you can include it in the education section. Honor’s societies, Dean’s list, and other academic achievements can be included in the education section. If you have more than a couple academic achievements you can add an extra section for Honors and Awards and mention your achievements there.

An entry-level EMT resume can put extra emphasis on the education section if you have a lot of academic achievements .

4. License and Certification

The license and certification section is optional because it can be included in the education section if you don’t have much information filling up the education section.

Some applicants will only have a high school diploma and EMT class to put in the education section. For those applicants it’s a great option to list all licenses and certifications alongside schooling.

Other applicants will have too much in the education section and will need a separate place to bring attention to medical achievements. This section should only include certifications relevant to the medical field and EMT work.

What does this mean?

It means include a lifeguard certification, but not a speed swimmer certification.

You should include any skills you have and any courses you’ve completed such as CPR, BLS, and ALS certifications along with dates they are active. Make sure to include your EMT license and write what states you can practice in. Also, don’t forget to include an ambulance driving certificate if you have one.

5. Experience

This section is the work history section and lets employers know how much experience you have in the medical field working with patients. It can include both paid and unpaid positions , including internships and volunteer work. It will include work experience written in chronological order from current employers to past employers.

You should include the name of your past employer, the city and state they are located in, the position you held, and the dates of your employment.

This section also includes a list of duties and responsibilities for each job, which offers a great opportunity to list skills that will help you get hired to the current job. This section is a great place for EMTs with past experience to shine by showing on the job competence.

It’s also ok to use some medical language as needed to list past EMT duties and responsibilities. This can indicate to the employer that you know insider terminology and also show your written report abilities.

Don’t write every job responsibility you had, instead try to focus on ones that demonstrate your ability to succeed at the job you’re applying for.

Begin descriptions of job duties with action verbs like Administer, provide, coordinate, examine, respond, perform and assess. Also, refer to the job description of the EMT job you’re applying for to get an idea what skills the employer is looking for.

The EMT resume should use present tense verbs when describing your current job duties and past tense verbs for describing previous jobs duties.

EMT Resume with No Experience in Medical Field

This is a common question for new grads and entry-level EMTs! The next question you need to ask yourself is have you ever had any jobs?

If the answer is Yes, great. If the answer is No, don’t worry there is help for you discussed below.

It’s very common to complete EMT school and apply for your first EMT job without any previous medical job experience. This was my situation and I was offered jobs at each place I interviewed.

My previous work experience included jobs like Jamba Juice and House Painting so there is hope.

The important thing is to use the experience section of the EMT resume to show your prospective employer that you are a good employee and a responsible person. List your job history starting with your current job and going in chronological order through past jobs.

If you have had a lot of jobs, don’t list them all. An EMT resume should be clear and brief, you don’t want to fill it up with 3 pages of job history. Ideally, you want to fit everything on one page. For each job you have on the EMT resume it’s important to list job duties and responsibilities.

It’s common to struggle with how to make jobs feel relevant when applying for an EMT job, but almost every job can show that you will be a good EMT. Did you have the same job for years?

This allows you to honestly say you are a loyal employee who plans on staying with the company for as long as possible.

Did you work as a Target Team Member ?

You can say that you work well with the public and can maintain a professional and positive attitude, even with difficult personalities. You can also say that you frequently worked overtime, participated in after hours rotations as needed and were on call during the holidays.

A Target Team Member job also allows you to mention that you can work well both in a team and independently.

Other job skills that translate well to the EMT resume are clerical jobs that let you say you can take clear and accurate written reports along with jobs that require the ability to listen and other communication skills.

As you can see, the experience section of your EMT resume can still show off your skills even if you don’t have any medical experience. Keep it brief, but don’t be afraid to shine.

EMT Resume with No Past Job Experience

Putting together a resume when you have no past job experiences can be intimidating, but with some effort you can put together an EMT resume that highlights your abilities. If you have any history of volunteering you can list this in the experience section.

You can also list any casual jobs you have had like babysitting, mowing lawns, shoveling snow, and pet sitting.

The important thing is to highlight skills that your prospective employer may value. You can write the years as dates for each type of volunteering or job along with a brief description. For example, you can say:

Helped my neighbors and community by shoveling snow each year I attended High School.

Another option is to include participation in clubs or other achievements that you can use as examples of why you will make a good EMT.

Overall, the EMT resume for an applicant with no work history will place more emphasis on the education and skills sections than on the experience section. Another option to help you get hired is to have permission to use an instructor or professional from your EMT training as one of your professional references.

Having a GOOD reference from an EMT preceptor or instructor can help encourage an employer to take a chance on you.

6. Skills and Abilities

This section includes a list of skills you have that are desired for the EMT position you’re applying for. If you know any other languages make sure to emphasize that in the skills section of your EMT resume.

If you have past work experience in the medical field, this section is where you can bring attention to your experience in the field.

This section is for listing practical experiences that showcase your capabilities and accomplishments as an EMT. If you have actually helped with gunshot wounds, you can write that as a skill. For example:

In depth experience treating gunshot wounds in the field.

The skills section can be a strong part of the EMT resume even if you don’t have any past job experience. Instead of highlighting job skills, you can use experiences that came up during EMT school.

You will have many patient contacts during Ambulance and Emergency Department rotations, use your experiences there to add skills to your EMT resume. For example, you can list:

Ability to assess patients, take vitals, recognize and respond to emergency situations appropriately.

The skills section is also a good place to personalize your EMT resume and show your individual values and strengths. For example if you value kindness and compassion you can add:

I have a passion for helping people and provide compassionate care for patients.

If you are the type of person who stays calm and always knows what to do, you can list one of your skills as:

Ability to remain calm and respond quickly and confidently in emergency situations.

Like the rest of the EMT resume, you want to keep your statements clear and concise. Make strong one sentence statements for each listed ability or skill.

7. References

The last section of the EMT resume is references and is completely optional .

Should you have references on your resume, should you write references available on request, or should you leave out the reference section entirely?

The answer depends on what the job posting says. If the employer asks for a resume and list of references in their ad, make sure that you give them a list of references.

The important part is to follow the instructions given so that your prospective employer knows you are detail oriented and can follow simple instructions. In the case above you would give the employer your EMT resume along with a list of 3-5 references on a separate sheet of paper.

If the job listing doesn’t mention references, you don’t want to put them on your resume because they take up too much space. It’s more important to keep your EMT resume short and powerful.

You don’t want to water it down with a bunch of names and numbers. For this reason there are no reference sections on our EMT resume samples. 

Most people recommend not even writing “References available on request” anymore because it takes up too much space and many employers assume they can ask you for references if needed.

Make sure you have a list of references prepared, typed and ready on a separate sheet of paper in case you are asked for it during an interview .

You should have at least three references or two personal and two work related references listed. Make sure you have contacted all your references ahead of time and gotten their permission to use them as a reference.

– Never lie on your EMT resume. NEVER .

– Don’t send out generic resumes for multiple EMT jobs .

– Focus each resume on the specific job you are applying for . If you’re applying for a job in Sacramento, Ca and you were trained to be an EMT in Sacramento, put emphasis on that.

– Clean up your social media profiles (or make them private) before you send out resumes. Employers are looking for EMTs with good judgement and great decision-making skills. Make sure they don’t check Facebook and see you making questionable comments or decisions.

– Make your EMT Resume Easy to Scan. Employers may not take the time to read your resume. They are likely to quickly scan it for important information. Use bullet points, instead of paragraphs to draw their attention to important information. See the EMT resume samples below for ideas.

– When possible make EMT resume fit on one page. Use a smaller font if needed. Resumes can be two pages long if you have a lot of work history or exceptional skills, but an entry-level EMT resume should only be one page. Remember, employers usually don’t spend a lot of time reading the resume so you want every piece of information on your EMT resume to be important.

EMT Resume Summary

When applying for EMT jobs you want your resume to make you stand out as a candidate. You want to make the employer feel like you don’t just want any job, you want a job with their company.

Try to personalize your resume by listing skills that are both relevant to the job and that you value. If you’re a hard worker and frequently work overtime shifts, find a way to list that in your resume.

It’s important to use your EMT resume to show the employer who you are and what you are about.

Remember that everything about your resume gives the employer information about who are. Missing words, typos, and spelling mistakes will all be judged harshly. You can tell the employer that you’re detail oriented and capable of filling out medical forms, but they won’t believe you if there are mistakes throughout your resume.

A resume that has been folded and has wrinkles on the page tells the employer that you lack professionalism.

The good news is with resourcefulness and preparation, you can use your resume to hide your shortcomings. For example, if you are a person that struggles to fill out paperwork correctly, you can have a friend help you put together a good resume and reference page. This makes a good impression to the employer and hopefully you can improve you paperwork skills after being hired.

If you’ve just become certified as an EMT, congratulations! Of course, you will not have an extensive employment history section, but you can have an excellent resume nonetheless. Put the emphasis on your education and certifications by moving those sections (if you chose to create two) above your work history.

Beef up your skills section with qualities such as reliability, time management, and calm underpressure that you can demonstrate with any other job you have had. Volunteer work, sports team memberships, and club activities taught you valuable skills as well, so feel free to mention them.

EMT resume education example

Training for an EMT is of the utmost importance. Most states accept the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (NREMT) certification course. You must also be CPR certified. These qualifications should be listed in the education section of your EMT resume. Alternatively, you may call this section “Certifications.”

A high school diploma is a must for this career, so include your secondary school information or your GED as well. A college degree is not a requirement, but if you have one you should definitely list it here.

Kamala Harris' 2020 campaign was a mess. If she replaces Biden, this time could be a lot different.

WASHINGTON — Kamala Harris had one great day in her ill-fated 2020 presidential campaign: her first.

Then came a rapid collapse.

The freshman senator who announced her candidacy in January 2019 before 20,000 cheering supporters in Oakland, California, dropped out in December before a single vote had been cast.

By the time she quit, Harris lacked money, a message and a cohesive campaign operation — all ingredients of a successful candidacy.

It was a hard fall for someone whose youth and biracial identity evoked the appeal of the last Democratic president, Barack Obama.

“I have mixed emotions about it,” her rival and the eventual winner, Joe Biden, said upon hearing she had withdrawn from the Democratic nomination contest. He called her a “first-rate intellect.”

Now, Harris is set to get another shot. As the sitting vice president, she is a leading candidate to succeed Biden after his exit from the race, receiving his immediate endorsement. Other elected officials might step forward to challenge Harris, dividing Democrats and clouding the general election picture ahead of a November showdown with Donald Trump.

“I know there are people working behind the scenes who think she may not be the best one suited to take us to victory,” said Maria Cardona, a member of the Democratic National Committee’s rules panel, speaking before Biden's withdrawal. “If that is seen as a full-on, inorganic tactic that is being led by senior people within the Democratic Party, there will be a civil war inside the Democratic Party the likes of which we will not survive.”

With only a few months to wage a campaign against Trump, Harris couldn’t afford to repeat the mistakes that tanked her last presidential bid. There would be little time to recover. Hers would need to be a virtually error-free sprint to Election Day.

When Harris gave that announcement speech before a hometown crowd five years ago, her prospects seemed dazzling. A Monmouth University poll released the week after she entered the race showed her running third in a crowded Democratic field that eventually numbered more than two dozen. With 11% support, she trailed only Biden and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, both of whom had run presidential races before.

Harris had earned her bona fides as a former prosecutor and had distinguished herself in Senate committees as a feared interrogator who could pick apart a witness’s testimony.

A pro-Harris super PAC prepared an ad that showed her grilling Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh and two Trump-era attorneys general, William Barr and Jeff Sessions.

It never aired. On the day the $1 million ad buy was supposed to begin running, Harris dropped out.

Making the leap from state to national politics proved daunting for her. Rivals like Sanders and Sen. Elizabeth Warren had spent much of their adult lives steeped in policy.

Harris hadn’t mastered policy questions that dominated the Democratic debates. She had originally backed Sanders’ “Medicare for all” plan, but later released her own version that carved out a continued role for private insurers.

She quickly faced incoming fire from the left and center of the ideological spectrum.

Sanders’ aides denounced her proposal as a “terrible policy.” Biden’s campaign joined the attack, warning that she would undercut Obama’s signature Affordable Care Act.

“She was trying to figure out where she landed in the primary field on a bunch of issues,” one of her former California campaign advisers said. As a state official, Harris “hadn’t had to deal with that level of nuance.”

Another policy stumble marred what seemed to be her breakthrough moment. In a debate in June, she attacked Biden for opposing school busing in the 1970s.

Harris mentioned a “little girl” in California who had been bused to school every day. “That little girl was me,” she said. Within hours of the exchange, her campaign triumphantly started selling “That little girl was me” T-shirts for $29.99 apiece.

But after the debate, she struggled to offer a consistent answer to whether she believed federally mandated busing should be used to integrate schools.

A Biden campaign aide seized on the equivocation, tweeting that she was “tying herself in knots trying not to answer the very question she posed” to Biden.

This time, instead of facing off against fellow Democrats, Harris would be able to elevate one to serve as her running mate. She would have a plethora of promising choices to balance the ticket, including Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro, North Carolina Gov. Roy Cooper and Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear, all of whom won in places where Trump performed well.

Admirers say that Harris has grown in the job. Early in her campaign, she traveled to South Carolina and spoke to a group of Democratic women.

“The woman that I met in early 2019 was not as confident and was significantly more tentative in the way she presented herself to potential voters,” Amanda Loveday, a senior adviser to a pro-Biden super PAC called Unite the Country, said before Biden withdrew.

While affirming she wanted Biden to remain at the top of the ticket, Loveday said of the vice president: “The woman I met back then is very different from the woman I see on TV today. She’s grown as a leader and she has developed more confidence.”

Both Harris’ government office and the Biden-Harris campaign declined to comment for this article before Biden's withdrawal.

A campaign is akin to an expensive startup business on a national scale. It needs an inspirational candidate, but it also relies on a unified staff. Harris didn’t have one. People close to the campaign say that lines of authority were blurred between Harris’ sister and campaign chairwoman, Maya Harris, and other advisers who’d worked on her state races but weren’t blood relatives.

In November 2019, a campaign staff member wrote a letter, obtained by The New York Times , that depicted a campaign in crisis.

“Campaigns have highs and lows, mistakes and miscalculations,” wrote Kelly Mehlenbacher. “But because we have refused to confront our mistakes, foster an environment of critical thinking and honest feedback, or trust the expertise of talented staff, we find ourselves making the same unforced errors over and over.”

By that point, Harris was running fifth, her poll numbers down to 6%. Money was dwindling, accelerating the downward spiral. That fall, Harris’ campaign laid off staff and moved others from her national headquarters in Baltimore to Iowa to save money.

Any hope of reviving her candidacy with a strong showing in the Iowa caucuses in January was short-lived. On Dec. 3, Harris dropped out. She emailed staff that she “simply doesn’t have the financial resources we need to continue.”

A Harris sequel would look nothing like the original, former advisers said. She’d be buoyed by a Democratic Party that would coalesce behind her, desperate to defeat Trump. Donors who’ve bailed on Biden might take a fresh look at the race with a younger candidate atop the ticket.

She would also likely inherit the parts of Biden’s campaign that are working — like the massive field and data operation s that are designed to drive voter turnout. While Biden’s most senior aides would likely be gone, many rank-and-file campaign staff with long resumes may choose to remain.

Harris’ background as a prosecutor could prove advantageous in a future debate. Rather than sparring with fellow Democrats over health care and education policy, she would be boring in on Trump’s criminal conviction in Manhattan.

“Literally everything” would be different, starting with her pitch to voters, a longtime Harris adviser told NBC News. “It is a three-month sprint and not a two-year slog.”

Just one day after President Biden threw his support behind Vice President Harris for the 2024 Democratic presidential nomination after dropping out of the race, Harris secured enough delegates to win the nomination, according to the Associated Press.

While she has not officially become the nominee, if she does when the DNC holds its virtual roll call on Aug, 7, Harris will become the first woman of color to be a major party presidential nominee.

Harris, the daughter of immigrants from Jamaica and India, has had a career with many firsts: She became the country's first Indian American senator when she was inaugurated in 2017. She is California’s first female and South Asian attorney general. In 2021, she became the first woman to become vice president, in addition to being the first Black or Asian American person in the position.

And, if she were to win the general election against former President Donald Trump, she would become the first woman president of the United States.

Here are five things to know about Harris:

1. She ran for president in 2020 but didn’t get very far.

Harris announced in 2019 she would run for the White House, and while Harris notably pushed Biden on his previous record over desegregation and busing, that was the high point of her run. Most of her bid, in fact, was riddled with campaign hiccups and minimal momentum.

She was criticized for how she championed tough truancy policies when she was the attorney general for California, which some said perpetuated inequities in the criminal justice system and disproportionately affected families of color . Harris later said she regretted the " unintended consequences " that law had on families.

More broadly, Harris failed to distinguish her positions on key issues, in ways that her competitors, such as Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders, were able to. In the months following, Harris failed to gain steam with limited funds and little excitement behind her campaign, and she dropped out by December 2019.

2. She has a mixed legacy in criminal justice

During her 2020 presidential bid, Harris ran to the left of Biden on several criminal justice issues, like ending solitary confinement and implementing a national standard on the use of deadly force.

But her “tough on crime” track record as a prosecutor, district attorney, and attorney general in California during the 1990s and 2000s is a clear reminder of her complicated and sometimes contradictory legacy on the criminal justice system . 

On the one hand, she established a reentry program in the early 2000s that was seen as a form of restorative justice. She supported legislation that would expand voting rights to those serving felony sentences. She also opposed the death penalty — and stood by that when she did not seek the death penalty against a gang member who killed a police officer in 2004. But when the opportunity came to get rid of the death penalty in California, Harris appealed that ruling . Then, when California Gov. Gavin Newsom put a moratorium on the death penalty in 2019, Harris praised Newsom for the decision, and subsequently called for a federal moratorium on executions .

It took her years as San Francisco’s district attorney to adopt a defendant’s rights policy known as the Brady doctrine, even though her staff recommended the policy to her in 2005 . As state attorney general, she rejected the use of advanced DNA testing in the case of a Black man who was — and still is — on death row for a notable murder case, though she has since said she felt “ awful ” about that decision. She also did not go after cases that involved killings by the police in San Francisco shortly after the 2014 killing of Michael Brown in Ferguson, Mo., which brought on the ire of protesters in Oakland. The year after, she declined to support a bill that would have her office investigate officer-involved shootings, and she did not back statewide standards over body cameras worn by police officers.

3. She is known for high-profile grillings early in the Trump administration

It was 2018. Harris was still a relative newcomer in the Senate. And yet, she made a splash when she grilled Brett Kavanaugh, Trump’s then-nominee for the Supreme Court.

“Can you think of any laws that give government the power to make decisions about the male body?” she asked Kavanaugh in a question pointedly about reproductive rights.

After Kavanaugh struggled to give an answer, Harris repeated the question. Kavanaugh’s final response: “I'm not thinking of any right now, senator.”

That was one of several viral moments of Harris as she went after officials and politicians tied to the Trump administration, including former Attorney General Jeff Sessions, former White House chief of staff John Kelly, and former Attorney General William Barr .

While Trump called her “ nasty ” for how she questioned Kavanaugh, her line of questioning piqued Trump’s interest when she was freshly nominated by Biden to be his running mate in 2020, showing him and Republicans she was capable of going after them.

4. It took a while to find her footing as VP, but when she did, she focused on issues that are key to younger voters

Despite Harris’ underwhelming performance in the 2020 Democratic presidential primary, Biden nominated her to be his running mate, making her the first Black woman and person of Indian descent to be nominated by a major party for national office. The announcement was celebrated by many in the party: She had been seen as a rising leader among Democrats, and capable of leading an increasingly diversifying party and country.

But things went off to a rocky start when she entered the White House. She misstepped in an interview with NBC’s Lester Holt when answering why she had not yet visited the border at the time, had turnover in her staff, and had consistently low approval ratings early into her tenure as vice president.

Although Harris was initially seen as uncomfortable in the role, she quickly grew into the job. Harris said the Supreme Court’s overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022 galvanized her, and she rewrote an entire speech she was supposed to deliver at an event about maternal health that day. She became the primary messenger on abortion and reproductive rights. Additionally, she campaigned aggressively for gun safety, has tried to connect with more women and people of color during her tenure, and was praised by progressives for her forceful call for a ceasefire in the Israel-Hamas war.

5. Her race and gender have made her subject to sexist and racist attacks

While many women in politics are often victims of sexist remarks and verbal abuse, a 2020 study tracking more than 300,000 instances of gendered abuse and disinformation against 13 women political candidates found that Harris was the target of such attacks 78% of the time.

Nina Jankowicz, who researches disinformation targeting women in politics and is the co-founder and CEO of the American Sunlight Project, said harmful narratives are “part of the criticism and abuse that women in public life frequently receive.”

The attacks against Harris in particular have often come from many on the right, including Trump and his running mate, Ohio Sen. JD Vance. Trump advanced a birtherism conspiracy theory about Harris that falsely stated she was not qualified to run as vice president back in 2020. Trump also called Harris “ crazy ,” and often ridicules the way she laughs — yet another display of hyper-criticizing women’s voices.

And Jankowicz said that it’s important to call out the sexist and racist online trolling against Harris that’s only grown since Biden’s announcement on Sunday.

“And I just think it's really important at this historic moment that we label these narratives and lies as what they are: an attempt to undermine Kamala Harris' public service and her record of public service because of her gender, her background and her skin color,” she said.

A House Republican leader is planning for an oversight hearing with the U.S. Secret Service after President Donald Trump was shot in the ear at a campaign rally in Pennsylvania on Saturday evening.

Sunday morning the FBI identified Thomas Matthew Crooks as the gunman who opened fire at Trump's rally . The Secret Service reported that the shooter and one rally attendee are dead. Two spectators are critically injured following the shooting.

House Committee on Oversight and Accountability Chairman James Comer, R-Kentucky, made the request for a briefing with the Secret Service and said he would call Kimberly Cheatle, the agency's director, to testify at a hearing.

"My prayers are with President Trump and the victims of the assassination attempt at today’s rally in Pennsylvania. I thank the brave Secret Service members who put their lives at risk to protect President Trump and for the American patriots in the audience who helped innocent victims," Comer said in a news release Saturday. "Political violence in all forms is unamerican and unacceptable. There are many questions and Americans demand answers. I have already contacted the Secret Service for a briefing and am also calling on Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle to appear for a hearing. The Oversight Committee will send a formal invitation soon.”

Kimberly Cheatle was sworn in as the 27th director of the U.S. Secret Service in September 2022. She was selected by President Joe Biden in August 2022.

Cheatle has served more than 25 years with distinction for the United States Secret Service across a number of leadership roles. She worked on the Vice Presidential Protective Division, and in 2021, Biden awarded Cheatle with a Presidential Rank Award.

Cheatle was the agency's assistant director of the Office of Protective Details, prior to joining PepsiCo. She also served as the Special Agent in Charge of the Secret Service's Atlanta Field Office. In that position, she provided oversight for all missions related to investigation, protective intelligence and protective visits in the state of Georgia.
