• The University is going to conduct Ph.D. Entrance Exam under the non-exempted category.

Eligibility Criteria

• Candidates have to apply online on the link available at university website.
• Read instruction given there carefully before filling application form.
• Candidates must provide their valid e-mail ID, Mobile Number and Aadhaar ID.
• Candidates will be required to pay a non-refundable fee of Rs.1200/- per department (plus transaction charges and taxes as applicable) to complete online registration.
• If a candidate wishes to apply for more than one department, the non-refundable fee has to be submitted accordingly

Selection Process

• A proctored written exam
• A presentation as per the given template for a maximum of 10 minutes followed by interaction (viva-voce) with the Ph.D. Admission Committee.
• The eligibility for call for interview shall be a minimum of 50% marks in the written exam for UR, and 45% for OBC, SC, ST, and EWS.
• The Final merit list will be determined as per the following breakup: 70% weightage of the marks secured in written exam + 30% weightage of the interview marks.
• Students securing at least 50% marks (UR category) and 45% (OBC/SC/ST/EWS categories) in the combined score of the written exam and the interview will be eligible to be considered for admission as per the merit list.

Central University of Rajasthan PhD Entrance Details

The scheme of the Exam is as follows: As per UGC regulation “HEI may admit students through an Entrance Test conducted at the level of the individual HEI. The Entrance Test syllabus shall consist of 50% of research methodology and 50% shall be subject specific”.

• The question paper consists of 100 MCQS. The examination shall be for duration of Two hours.
• The question paper shall be divided in two parts: Part-I: Research methodology (50 MCQs) and Part-II: Concerned subject (50 MCQs).
• There is no negative marking for wrong answers.
• Part- I : Research Methodology (50 Marks) [ For Sciences , For Social Science/Commerce & Management Programmes )
• Part- II: Subjects Concerned (50 Marks) – MCQ test for the part-II will be based on the respective subjects.

Note: For the subjects marked with ‘*’, the written test for Part-II will be based on syllabus at the post-graduation level in the respective subjects, as NET/CSIR-NET/GATE/GPAT examinations are not conducted for those subjects.

• All eligible candidates are required to appear for the entrance test on the notified date and time in offline mode at Central University of Rajasthan campus. Candidature for PhD admission will not be considered if the candidate fails to appear in the entrance test.
• The Entrance test syllabus consists of 50% of research methodology, and 50% of subject specific. Candidates who secure 50 % marks in the entrance test (45% for candidates belonging to SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy layers)/EWS/Differently-abled category) are eligible to be called for the interview/viva voce. Details of entrance test like syllabus, pattern of exam, marking system, etc. will be displayed on the university website.
• All eligible candidates are required to appear for the interview/viva-voce on the notified date and time in offline mode in respective departments at Central University of Rajasthan campus.
• Interview schedules for different departments will be notified on the University website along with interview guidelines. Interview will be conducted in offline mode only.

• An online proctored written test consisting of 3-4 descriptive general aptitude questions.
• An online presentation as per the given template for a maximum of 10 minutes followed by interaction (viva-voce) with the Ph.D. Admission Committee.

The combined score of the written test, the presentation and interaction (viva-voce) will be used to prepare the merit list of eligible candidates.

UGC: NET Scores Mandatory for Ph.D. Admission; No More Multiple Exams

In a significant move aimed at making the Ph.D. admissions process, the University Grants Commission (UGC) announced in a notice that National Eligibility Test (NET) scores will be accepted by the universities beginning with the academic year 2024-25. This decision by the UGC provides relief to students seeking admission to the Ph.D., previously had to take multiple entrance exams administered by various universities

As per the official notice by the commission, following recommendations from an expert committee, the university body made this decision at its 578th meeting held on March 13.

About UGC NET for Ph.D

The NET exam is conducted biannually by the National Testing Agency (NTA) in June and December, and serves two purposes: it awards Junior Research Fellowships (JRF) and selects Assistant Professors from among master's degree holders. 

Under the new process, starting from June 2024, all universities can use UGC NET scores for admission to Ph.D. programmes, this will replace the need for separate entrance tests conducted by individual universities or Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs). The NET result will be announced in percentile along with each candidate's marks, making them more suitable for PhD admission.

UGC NET Process for Ph.D. Admission

UGC NET qualified candidates will now be eligible for Ph.D. admissions in the following three categories:

• Category 1 - Admission to PhD with JRF and appointment as Assistant Professor.
• Category 2 - Admission to Ph.D. without JRF and appointment as an assistant professor.
• Category 3 - Admission to the Ph.D. programme is required, not for the award of a JRF or appointment as an assistant professor.

According to the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022, candidates who qualify for a Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) will have to appear for the interview for admission to Ph.D. programmes.

For students in Categories 2 and 3, PhD admissions will be based on 70% test scores and 30% interviews. Admission to Ph.D. programmes will be based on the combined merit of NET scores and interview/viva voce performance. 

Note: NET scores obtained by candidates in Categories 2 and 3 will be valid for one year.

JRF-qualified students are admitted to the Ph.D. programme following an interview per the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedures for Award of Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2022.

For students qualifying under Categories 2 and 3, test scores will be weighted 70%, with the interview accounting for 30%. The admission process will be determined by the combined merit of NET marks and interview/viva voce performance of the candidate. According to an official release from the university body, NET marks obtained by candidates in Categories 2 and 3 will be valid for one year for admission to Ph.D. programmes.

Dr. richa arora was invited as a keynote speaker from o p jindal university during their international conference, icirstsd-23 as the keynote speaker., dr. richa arora was invited as a keynote speaker from o p jindal university during their international conference, icirstsd-23 as the keynote speaker. she was also invited as external expert for condducting interviews at msu baroda., dr richa arora was invited as a panel expert and drc member by ms univeristy baroda., all faculty of the department have completed training/fdp in their respective domains., dr. mani sachdev regularly hosts shows on the community radio of muj., dr. mani sachdev received grant of rs. 500000/- for organise a 5 day workshop on the contours of rasa in bharatmuni’s natyashastra from icpr, dr. mani sachdev organized an internation conference on multidisciplinary trends in social sciences and humantities- mtisshcon 2022, dr. aditi priya received icssr doctoral fellowship award, icssr field grant, dr trishna chaudhuri received a seed grant of rs 2lac, dr trishna chaudhuri received prof. gordon mcvie best presentation prize in cancer communications and psycho-oncology, an international seminar organized by tata medical centre and kings college london. she also won a cash prize of rs 5000/-., national workshop on bharatmuni's natyashastra- this was an icpr funded (rs. 500,000) workshop that focussed on the philosophy of the rasa siddhant, expert guest lecture- a lecture on gita was taken by daniel raveh, professor of philosophy in tel aviv university. this was organized by the head of the department prof. mani sachdev., international seminar- different experts will address the topic of g20, multidisciplinary conference- international conference on multidisciplinary trends in social sciences and humanities, club activity- talk on japan-s.korea defence partnership, club activity- talk on russia ukraine crisis, exploring the unexplored.
