British rule and the demand for independence.
The subcontinent of India, which includes present-day Pakistan, was under British colonial rule from the mid-18th century until the mid-20th century. The British East India Company initially established control, but after the Indian Rebellion of 1857. The British Crown took direct control, leading to a period known as the British Raj. During this time, Indian leaders and activists began to demand greater autonomy and, eventually, independence from British rule.
The quest for independence was driven by various socio-political movements, with significant contributions from leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Jawaharlal Nehru, and Muhammad Ali Jinnah. The Indian National Congress, led by Gandhi and Nehru, and the All-India Muslim League, led by Jinnah, were the primary political forces advocating for freedom. The latter’s demand was particularly focused on securing a separate nation for Muslims, leading to the creation of Pakistan.

The Lahore Resolution of 1940, passed by the All-India Muslim League, called for independent states in the north-western and eastern zones of India, leading to the creation of Pakistan. Independence Day is a special day that Pakistanis worldwide celebrate on the 14th of August each year. It marks the day Pakistan became independent from British rule in 1947. The day is celebrated with great enthusiasm, patriotism, and national pride.
The struggle for independence was a long and difficult one. It began with the Indian Rebellion of 1857, a revolt against British colonial rule. Over the next several decades, the Indian nationalist movement grew more robust and more organized, with leaders like Mohandas Gandhi and Muhammad Ali Jinnah playing prominent roles.
In 1940, the All India Muslim League passed the Lahore Resolution, which called for creation of a separate Muslim state in South Asia. This idea was met with opposition from some quarters, but it gained momentum over the next few years as the British Empire weakened in the aftermath of World War II.
Finally, in August 1947, the British government agreed to partition India and created two new states: India and Pakistan. The process was accompanied by widespread violence and displacement, as Hindus and Muslims clashed and millions of people were forced to migrate to their new countries.
Despite these challenges, the people of Pakistan were determined to build a new, independent nation. The first few years were difficult, with economic hardship, political instability, and social unrest. However, Pakistan emerged as a vibrant, diverse, and resilient society over time.
Today, Pakistan is a major player in the region, with a rich cultural heritage, a growing economy, and a strategic location at the crossroads of South Asia, the Middle East, and Central Asia. The country faces many challenges, including poverty, terrorism, and political instability, but its people remain committed to democracy, pluralism, and social justice.
On Independence Day, Pakistanis celebrate their country’s achievements, honor their leaders and heroes, and reaffirm their commitment to the nation’s future. Flag-hoisting ceremonies, parades, speeches, and cultural events mark the day. It is a time for reflection, remembrance, and renewal.
As Pakistan celebrated its 75th Independence Day in 2022, the country stands at a crossroads. It faces many challenges, but it also has many opportunities. The people of Pakistan have repeatedly shown that they are capable of great resilience, innovation, and creativity. With exemplary leadership, vision, and dedication, Pakistan can become a prosperous, peaceful, and inclusive society respected and admired worldwide.
In conclusion, Independence Day is a special occasion that holds great significance for the people of Pakistan. It is a day to celebrate their nation’s history, culture, and achievements and to renew their commitment to its future. Pakistan will face many challenges and opportunities as it moves forward into the next 75 years. Still, its people will continue to work hard, strive for excellence, and build a better world for themselves and their children.

I got all my education in my country. In her beloved and respected schools and colleges, Law has learned about life and its problems. I have set high goals for my future in their classrooms. Pakistani teachers, who are known for their ability, great ideas, and principles, have taught me.
I like all the places where I spent my childhood. Playgrounds are as dear to me as the streets where I jumped and played without any worries. I like the streets that I walk on and run with other children in all the carelessness and dreams of childhood. I live with other Pakistanis and I have studied and worked with them. My friends are all Pakistanis for whom I can only have feelings of love and respect.
My country is like a small continent. To the south is the ocean, with its waves crashing against a long beach. In Karachi, you have a humid climate because it is close to the sea. In the interior of Sindh, it is dry and hot because most of it is desert-like. The weather in Balochistan is dry and cold. Punjab is neither so hot nor so cold. Parts of the border province are similar to Europe. Murree, Gilgit, Swat, and Azad Kashmir are completely mountainous. I like to forget to pass the time from one part of my beloved country to another.
I like the different languages spoken in my country. This is probably because the people who talk to them are likeable and loving. Their traditional dress and manners are all very attractive. How I love my people when they speak different languages in different colours! I love Pakistan because it is an Islamic country As a Muslim, I like to be with other Muslims in the country.
I love Pakistan with all my heart, and I will always love it. There is nothing sweeter on earth than my thoughts on my country or it. In any case, I like the people of my country, the children and the students who belong to other religions. Thus, a Christian, a Parsi, a Hindu, a Buddhist, or a follower of any other religion, I love him if he is truthful, honest, well-behaved, and above all, patriotic. Pakistani

Furthermore, the celebrations of Independence Day Pakistan not only serve as a display of national pride but also as a reminder of the values and goals that continue to guide the nation. Through exploring these dimensions, the article presents a comprehensive view of the significance and lasting legacy of Pakistan Independence Day.
Historical Background
Colonial india and british governance.
The inception of direct British rule in India dates back to 1858 following the Indian Mutiny, which led to the dissolution of the East India Company’s control and the establishment of the British Raj. This era was characterized by an increase in Indian representation in governance, albeit primarily to safeguard British imperial interests. Over the decades, a robust independence movement began to take shape, driven by systemic injustices and the Indian populace’s growing discontent.
During World War I, approximately 1.4 million Indian soldiers served under British command, which inadvertently boosted India’s international stature and fueled nationalistic fervor for self-governance. The interwar period saw incremental British concessions towards Indian self-rule, but the promises fell short, leading to intensified demands for independence, highlighted by the “Quit India” movement led by Gandhi.
Formation of the Muslim League
The All-India Muslim League was formed in 1906, emerging from a context of rising nationalist movements that the British colonial governance was unable to suppress. The League was initially established to protect the political rights of Muslims in a predominantly Hindu society and advocated for separate electorates and the Two-Nation Theory , which posited that Hindus and Muslims constituted distinct nations.
Key figures such as Sir Syed Ahmed Khan were pivotal in fostering a political consciousness among Muslims, which eventually contributed to the League’s formation. The League’s political influence peaked in the 1940s, gaining substantial support from the Muslim electorate and becoming instrumental in the push for an independent Muslim state.
The Partition of India: Key Events Leading to Independence
The partition of India in 1947 was the culmination of years of escalating tensions between the Indian National Congress and the Muslim League, with the British colonial rule playing a crucial mediating role. The decisive moment came with the Indian Independence Bill , which formalized the creation of India and Pakistan as separate nations. This partition led to significant upheaval, including massive population displacements and intense communal violence that resulted in numerous casualties.
Muhammad Ali Jinnah, a central figure in the Muslim League, advocated vigorously for the creation of Pakistan. His efforts were realized when the British, unable to find a feasible solution to the Hindu-Muslim divide, decided to partition British India into two states. This resolution, however, came at a great human cost and laid the foundation for ongoing regional tensions, particularly concerning the disputed territory of Kashmir.
Events Leading to August 14, 1947
Role of Key Leaders like Muhammad Ali Jinnah
Muhammad Ali Jinnah, recognized as the founder of Pakistan and often referred to as Quaid-e-Azam, played a pivotal role in the events leading to the independence of Pakistan. His political career was marked by his advocacy for the Two- Nation Theory, which argued for separate nations for Hindus and Muslims. This perspective was solidified with the Lahore Resolution in 1940 , where Jinnah and the All-India Muslim League demanded an independent state for Indian Muslims. His leadership was crucial during the turbulent times of partition, where he served as the first Governor- General of Pakistan.
The Lahore Resolution and its Effects
The Lahore Resolution, passed on March 23, 1940 , was a significant milestone that set the course for the eventual
creation of Pakistan. It called for independent states in regions where Muslims were the majority. This resolution was a direct response to fears among Muslims of domination by the Hindu majority in an undivided India. The resolution’s adoption marked a definitive shift from seeking minority protections to demanding full sovereignty, which galvanized support across Muslim communities in British India. The widespread support for the resolution and the strengthening of Muslim nationalism were critical in bolstering the Muslim League’s position in negotiations with the British and the Congress.
Mountbatten Plan and Independence Announcements
The final phase in the lead-up to independence was marked by the Mountbatten Plan, officially known as the Indian Independence Act of 1947 . Lord Mountbatten, the last Viceroy of British India, proposed a plan for partition that was accepted by all parties involved, including the Congress and the Muslim League. This plan outlined the creation of two independent dominions, India and Pakistan, and set a timeline for British withdrawal. The plan was detailed with provisions for autonomy and sovereignty, allowing each new nation to draft its own constitution. The legislative assemblies of Bengal and Punjab voted for partition along religious lines, which was a direct implementation of the Mountbatten Plan. This plan laid the groundwork for the formal declaration of independence of Pakistan on August 14, 1947, and India on August 15, 1947.
Celebrations of Independence Day
Official activities and ceremonies.
The celebrations of Independence Day in Pakistan commence with the official ceremonies in Islamabad, where the national flag is hoisted on significant government buildings such as the Parliament House and the Presidency. This is followed by a 31-gun salute in the capital and a 21-gun salute in provincial capitals. The President and Prime Minister address the nation through live telecasts, underscoring the achievements of the nation and setting future goals.
Government buildings are adorned with lights and colors, reflecting the patriotic spirit of the day. Additionally, a change of guard takes place at national monuments, and the Armed Forces, including the Army, Air Force, and Navy, play significant roles in the independence day parades.
Public Participation and Traditions
Across Pakistan, the spirit of independence begins to show as early as the start of August. Streets, vehicles, and homes are decorated with the national flag and other patriotic symbols. Markets are filled with stalls selling flags, badges, and pictures of national heroes, while businesses and fashion outlets offer themed merchandise. The day itself is marked by special prayers for the nation’s solidarity and development. People dress in green and white, the national colors, and engage in various activities including dining on Pakistani cuisine and visiting recreational spots. Public celebrations are robust, featuring firework displays, street parades, and live music, encapsulating the national pride and joy of the citizens.
Independence Day in Popular Culture
The influence of Independence Day is also evident in Pakistan’s popular culture. Leading up to the day, media channels broadcast patriotic songs and programs that highlight the nation’s history and achievements. Songs like Dil Dil Pakistan and Jazba-e-Junoon become anthems, resonating throughout the country. New songs are released annually to honor the occasion. The film industry and literary community contribute to the narrative as well, with works such as the film Jinnah and books like Train to Pakistan and Freedom at Midnight that depict the events and emotions tied to Pakistan’s independence. These cultural expressions play a crucial role in reinforcing the national identity and the historical significance of Independence Day.
Impact of Independence
Political Changes and New Government Structure
The independence of Pakistan in 1947 led to significant political restructuring. The partition of the Indian subcontinent necessitated the rapid establishment of new administrative, financial, and military structures in both India and Pakistan. Each country had to set up its own government systems, which included forming their respective civil services and military units from the divided assets of the British Indian Empire. This division also meant that Pakistan had to quickly adapt to self-governance without the established bureaucratic support previously provided under British rule.
Economic Implications and Changes
Post-independence, Pakistan faced numerous economic challenges. Initially, the economy was primarily agrarian with a focus on textiles and agriculture. However, the partition severely disrupted established economic linkages and supply chains, necessitating a reorientation towards industrialization and technological diversification . The partition also led to the division of financial resources and administrative infrastructure which had far-reaching consequences on the country’s economic policies and institutions, including the establishment of its own currency and central bank.
Despite efforts to expand the cultivated area and improve irrigation facilities, the economic growth was uneven and often did not keep pace with the population increase, leading to increased poverty in rural areas. The major share of the development budget was allocated to West Pakistan, which contributed to regional disparities and economic decline in East Pakistan, eventually leading to its secession and the formation of Bangladesh in 1971.
Socio-cultural Effects Post-Independence
The creation of Pakistan in 1947 was not only a political and economic event but also a significant socio-cultural shift. It marked the largest demographic movement in recorded history with millions of people migrating across the new borders, which reshaped the cultural landscape of the region. This mass migration was accompanied by violence and upheaval, deeply impacting the social fabric of the newly formed nation.
Culturally, Pakistan has evolved to reflect a diverse blend of regional and Islamic traditions. The country is known for its linguistic diversity, with Urdu and English as official languages, but also several regional languages that reflect its multi-ethnic population. Over the decades, Pakistan has struggled with defining a national identity that accommodates its cultural and linguistic diversity while fostering a sense of unity.
In conclusion, the impact of independence on Pakistan has been profound and multifaceted, affecting its political structures, economic development, and socio-cultural dynamics. The challenges of governance, economic inequality, and cultural integration continue to influence the country’s trajectory in the global arena.
Through the elucidation of Pakistan’s journey from colonial subjugation to sovereign independence, this article has traced the pivotal moments, challenges, and triumphs that have shaped the nation since August 14, 1947. The historical backdrop of colonial rule, the fervent campaigns led by figures like Muhammad Ali Jinnah, and the subsequent partition have been highlighted to understand the intricate tapestry of Pakistan’s identity and the indomitable spirit of its people. The nation’s celebration of Independence Day is not merely a reflection of national pride but underscores the ongoing commitment to the ideals and aspirations that propelled its formation.
As Pakistan continues to navigate the complexities of its post-independence landscape, the significance of this day extends beyond annual celebrations, impacting the political, economic, and socio-cultural paradigms of the country. It serves as a persistent reminder of the sacrifices made and the resilience required to forge a nation amidst immense challenges. Moreover, it calls attention to the broader implications of independence on the country’s development and its role on the global stage, urging current and future generations to contribute to a more prosperous, equitable, and inclusive Pakistan.

The story of our struggle
Pakistan today celebrates 71st Independence Day. It was not made overnight but after a long and continuous struggle that was originally started with the movement of Sir Syed Ahmed Khan. That movement was to ensure that the Muslims did not lag behind Hindus in the field of education. The movement was successful and schools and colleges were opened across the sub-continent for Muslims.
In 1906 it was staunch members of Sir Syed’s movement who made Muslim League. The educated Muslims were the force behind the freedom struggle. Earlier Muhammad Ali Jinnah joined this struggle under the banner of Congress party. He was called the ambassador of Hindu-Muslim unity. Later he left Congress on seeing that it was dominated by Hindus and the voice of Muslims was not properly heard in the party. He disassociated from the politics of India and went to England.
Muslim leaders realised the importance of Jinnah as good politician. They urged him to come back. He came back and united the Muslims. He realised that it would not be possible for Muslims to live in united India as they would be dominated by Hindus all the time. In 1940 at Minto Park in Lahore his idea of a separate homeland for Muslims was floated and accepted in the public meeting of Muslim League.
CM KP Ali Amin Gandapur opposes constitutional amendments
Then he began the struggle for Pakistan which concluded with the announcement of independence on August 14, 2018.
Jinnah became Quaid-e-Azam (the greatest leader) as people lovingly called him. Minorities in areas that now constitute Pakistan joined the freedom struggle. It was thought at the time that they would be more safe and prosperous in Pakistan than in India. Many Christians including a number of Anglo Indians came to Pakistan. In Punjab Assembly the Speaker was SP Singha a Christian and member of Unionist Party. The assembly passed the vote in favour of Pakistan and the deciding vote was that of the speaker in favour of Pakistan. The two other Christian members also voted in favour of Pakistan.
Quaid’s speech to the Constituent Assembly showed what kind of Pakistan he had envisioned. “You are free; you are free to go to your temples, you are free to go to your mosques or to any other place or worship in this State of Pakistan. You may belong to any religion or caste or creed that has nothing to do with the business of the State… We are starting in the days where there is no discrimination, no distinction between one community and another, no discrimination between one caste or creed and another. We are starting with this fundamental principle that we are all citizens and equal citizens of one State… Now I think we should keep that in front of us as our ideal and you will find that in course of time Hindus would cease to be Hindus and Muslims would cease to be Muslims, not in the religious sense, because that is the personal faith of each individual, but in the political sense as citizens of the State.
Gunfire erupts between police and criminals in Karachi’s Shah Latif Town
In today’s Pakistan religious extremism is on the rise and intolerance in the society has also started creeping in. It is a hard fact that a lot of Christians have migrated abroad replicating what happened in Lebanon and many other Middle East countries. We all have to strive to make Pakistan’s diversity of religions, ethnic groups and various cultures as a mark of our strength. We have to make unity in our diversity to ensure the implementation of the vision of the father of the nation.
The scribe recently visited London to complete Chevening Fellowship programme of two months. During the fellowship I got the opportunity of meeting the leaders in various fields and different points of views. I also had the opportunity to visit the British Library in London, which has a large archives department. The British Library has more than 400,000 relics related to South Asia. Some of the relics were shown to the Chevening fellows. For me it was like going back in time of the freedom struggle. My mother’s brother Mohan Bhatti was a soldier in the British army and fought the war in which Subhas Chandar Bose’s army was defeated. His last posting was in Rangoon (now Yangoon) when the independence was announced. My mother often narrated stories of horror and darkness that my uncle had witnessed when he made his way back to Lahore.

Report on the last Viceroyalty, Rear Admiral
The Earl Mountbatten of Burma, 22 March to 15 August 1947
This report was based largely on the 17 weekly Viceroy’s Personal Reports Mountbatten sent to the Secretary of State and Prime Minister. It attempts to tell the full story of the events between Mountbatten’s arrival in India on 22 March to the transfer of power to the new governments of India and Pakistan on 15 August 1947. In the conclusion Mountbatten attempts to answer the questions of whether power was transferred too quickly and whether more could have been done to prevent the communal violence.
Poster for referendum to the North
West Frontier Province, 1947
Choices for the people of India became starker as Independence Day neared. The Governor of North West Frontier Province has orders on 31 May to conduct within six weeks a referendum to decide the province’s future, either India or Pakistan. Mountbatten’s 3 June plan allocated India’s provinces and princely states were under pressure to accede to one or other of the new dominions. Congress prevented any third way of independence and voters of NWFP, offered the red and green boxes of India or Pakistan, were told ‘There is no other alternative at issue whatsoever’. They voted 9-1 to join Pakistan.

Gandhi and Jinnah assent
In his weekly personal to the King, the Prime Minister and the India Committee Mountbatten reported with some satisfaction, less than three months after he arrived in India, his meetings with Indian leaders on 2 and 3 June over the principle of the partition of India and the procedures for its implementation. In these extracts he relates the grudging agreement of both Gandhi and Jinnah not to oppose what subsequently became the 3 June plan. Image and substance went together as in the official photograph of Mountbatten with Nehru and Jinnah, Lord Ismay as Adviser to the Viceroy completing the group, New Delhi June 1947.
The origins of the Muslim League
Letter from Syed Mehdi Ali to the Viceroy’s Private Secretary.
Syed Mehdi Ali, or Mohsin-ul-Mulk (Benefactor of the nation) was a staunch member of the Aligarh Movement founded by the late 19th century educationist and Muslim leader Syed Ahmed Khan. In October 1906 he was among a 35-strong Muslim delegation to the Viceroy Lord Minto, at Simla. Concerned at the dominance of the Hindu majority in Congress and their forceful rhetoric , the delegates sought to safeguard Muslim interests in proposed constitutional reforms. Mohsin-ul-Mulk’s subsequent letter shows the viceroy’s response as favourable. In December 1906, Muslim League was formed, Mohsin-ul-Mulk instrumental in drafting its constitution, and in 1909 the Morley-Minto Reforms endorsed separate electorates for Muslims.

The Indian National Army
The Indian National Army (Azad Hind Fauj) was formed of Indian civilians and prisoners-of-war in the Far East by Subhas Chandra Bose or Netaji (Great Leader). Bose formerly of the Congress party arrived in Japan from Germany in 1943. With an army between 16,000 -50,000 (including a women’s battalion named after the 19th century Indian heroine the Rani of Jhansi, he dreamt of creating an Azad Hind (Free India) in Bengal. In 1944 with cries of ‘Jaya Hind’ (Victory of India) and ‘Dilli chalo!’ Bose’s army entered India alongside Japanese forces. Their heavy defeat by the Allies at Imphal marked the turning point of the war in Southeast Asia.
Propaganda for Indian soldiers
This illustrated propaganda newspaper was produced during the First World War by the Eastern Department of the British Ministry of Information. It was printed in the main languages spoken in India as well as Persian, Arabic, Turkish, Chinese, Japanese, Malay and Russian, and was distributed throughout India, the Middle East, North Africa, the Far East, and to Indian overseas and Indian troops. Positive images of all the allied forces engaged in the war were used to boost morale.

Memorials against the partition of Bengal, 1906.
The Partition of Bengal into Bengal, Eastern Bengal and Assam proposed by Lord Curzon, elicited spontaneous mass agitation all over Bengal. The decision was protested through all possible means like mass rallies, processions, local meetings, songs, etc. One of the major modes of expressing discontent was sending memorials to the India Office in London. The British Library holds such memorial signed by 60,000 common Bengali people irrespective of their religion, caste and class identities. This is probably one of the earliest documents where common Indians left their individual impression in unison against the British Raj. In 1912 the government revoked the decision and divided Bengal became one, once again.

This is an early geography school book published in 1846 for the Calcutta School Book Society Press. The author, Reverend W.H Pearce, a missionary, states that the text was written in accordance with historical facts and that the maps which were being designed on the basis of this book would be very useful to the readers.
The book is divided into five parts broadly covering the subjects of physical, human and regional geographies. The first three parts covers features of the earth as a planet, natural geography and the continents. The second part while dealing with the geography of Hindustan (northern India and beyond) gives historical accounts of Afghan rulers and Mughal rulers (like Babur and Akbar). The fifth and the final part focuses on Bengal and the districts of Calcutta, Dacca and Murshidabad.

14 August , Independence Day of Pakistan
14th August, is our INDEPENDENCE DAY and it means a day when we had got freedom not only from our ruthless rulers but freedom from humiliation. At this day we got our own identity and our own valves. Pakistan came into being in 1947 as a sovereign state. 14th August is a day when, efforts of our national heroes are appreciated and celebrated and a day when we get our name and respect. Being Muslims we have our own values, traditions and religion. We Muslims celebrate this day with complete satisfaction and pleasure of being in a separate region where we enjoy freedom of living in every way. Pakistan is a democratic parliamentary federal Islamic republic state. Pakistan has its four provinces, Punjab, Sindh, Baluchistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The day is a national holiday in Pakistan and is celebrated all over the country with flag raising ceremonies, tributes to the national heroes and fireworks taking place in the capital, Islamabad. President and prime minister delivers speeches and in the speech, the leaders highlight the achievements of the government, goals set for the future and in the words of the father of the nation, Quaid-i-Azam, bring "Unity, Faith and Discipline" to its people. Day starts with flag raising ceremonies in the Capital city Islamabad and so in all major cities in Pakistan. March parade and exchange of guard’s ceremonies takes place on the Quaid-i-Azam’s mausoleum.
People of Pakistan, on this national holiday visit national monuments like MINAR-e-PAKISTAN which fully lit to commemorate the independence of Pakistan from the British Empire. At WAHGA-BORDER flag raising ceremonies takes place while everybody stands quiet and motionless in the honor of "NATIONAL ANTHEM" after that, military parade gets stars.
Names of people like Muhammad Ali Jinnah, Allama Muhammad Iqbal and Sir Syed Ahmad Khan are always written in golden words in the history of Pakistan. Muhammad Ali Jinnah also known as Quaid-e-Azam is the real founder of Pakistan. Allama Iqbal, with his enthusiastic poetry, motivated Muslims to think and earn their own nationality and name in the world. Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, brought Muslim nation forward and made schools and colleges for Muslims so that they may come to know how to fulfill the latest demands of the advance age.
People gave sacrifices of their lives for independence because they could not follow Islam independently and could not perform their religious duties properly in sub – continent. They were punished or disturbed when they perform their religious duties. It offended Muslims but as they were weak nation, they could not do anything. Pakistan came into being after the sacrifices of countless lives. Many of our ancestors lost their lives only for the freedom of their imminent generations, for the sake of independent land where all the Muslims can offer their religious duties with their own wish and freedom.
As citizens of free Pakistan, we must reflect on the values and principles which were in the minds and hearts of those who fought and sacrificed for our freedom. They portrayed inspiration from the values nurtured in the country through ages. Now we are living as an independent nation, which is enjoying all the beauties, charismas of their own homeland. Being an independent and self-respective nation, it’s our duty to serve our country with our best. We should work whole heartedly and with complete devotion for the development of our beloved homeland, we should not forget the sacrifices of our ancestors and national leaders whole made this land happen as an unrestricted territory for us to live. It’s the time to work with that passion which was in the bloods of our national heroes who fought for our freedom; it’s the time for the strong commitment with us for the betterment of our holy land. We should not compromise on our integrity and would not let our freedom and integrity being used by other dominant powers in the world. At this independent day let we rethink about our plans, our actions and their outcomes. We all should pray at this day of best for our pious land and promise ourselves that we would not let any harm on it and will work for its defense till the day of our last breath.
God bless our sacred land, God bless our Pakistan! Ameen. Happy Independence Day

14 August Speech in English for Pakistan Independence Day
Today I am going to consecrate my words to my homeland in the form of a 14 August Speech in English for Pakistan Independence Day. “14th August” is the day of the Independence of Pakistan and the day to stand up together singing the national anthem and raising the sound proclaiming that ‘we are Pakistani’. Yes of course! This is a devotional day for all Pakistani nationals not only in Pakistan but also for those Pakistanis who are sitting in abroad countries. The reason is that Pakistan is our unique recognition on the map of the world. The reason is before the formation of a separate country for sub-continental Muslims; no one respects the real religious rights of Muslims. One of the big issues between Hindus and Muslims was the difference between their living styles, their rituals, their foods as well as their litanies. If Muslims use to eat cow meat the Hindus use to adore the cow. Muslims bow before Allah and Hindus bow before stones (Baghwan). Moreover, Hindus were superior in amount while Muslims were few and helpless. So in these hurdles, one man sees a dream of Independence and aims to make his dream come true. So, after a lot of effort and sacrifices, Pakistan came into being.

The one who saw the dream of Pakistan was Dr. Allama Muhammad Iqbal (The Poet of the East). At that time Muhammad Ali Jinnah (Quaid-e-Azam) was a student and a member of the Indian National Congress. But after listing this dream and when he realized that Congress was just supporting Hindus and neglecting Muslims, he joined the All India Muslim League. The entrance of this hero to this party was a massive turnaround for Muslims.

Sir Syed Ahmed Khan did a great job. Sir Syed advised Muslims to learn English so that the British can understand that they are not against them. He organized schools and colleges where Muslims were independently allowed to take admitted and study English. Afterwards, when Muslims got educated they were allowed to apply for jobs. Through this, Muslims were able to get jobs and it helped them a lot.
At the start, Muhammad Ali Jinnah was in supporting the narrative that the British should leave the country and give it to Muslims and Indians who can live here in peace. But later he realized that it is impossible for them to live together. So, he raised his voice for the separation of both nations and demanded the British to leave the country and before leaving, divide both nations and make two countries for them. Following continues hard work and sacrifices, Pakistan came into existence in 1947. On the 14th of August, a new country came into existence and it is called Pakistan. When it was announced that all the Muslims of Sub Continent will migrate from India to Pakistan, Hindus start killing them openly. But in the end, Muslims got their homeland.

Pakistan Independence Day – 14th August 2024 Essay (New- Urdu)

I extend to all of you a warm and patriotic greeting on this momentous day. Today, we gather here to commemorate and celebrate a significant event in the history of our beloved nation – the 14th of August, Pakistan’s Independence Day.
This auspicious day holds immense significance as it signifies the liberation of Pakistan from the shackles of British colonial rule in 1947. It stands as a testament to the triumph of freedom, the culmination of numerous sacrifices, and the birth of a sovereign nation.
As we stand here today, let us take a moment to reflect upon the struggles and sacrifices of our forefathers. They valiantly fought for our rights, envisioning a separate homeland where we could live with dignity, freedom, and equality. We owe an immeasurable debt of gratitude to these brave souls.
The path to Pakistan’s independence was arduous and demanding, requiring immense courage, resilience, and unwavering determination. Our revered leaders, most notably Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, led us through this transformative journey. They envisioned a nation where justice would prevail, where every citizen would have equal opportunities, and where the values of unity and tolerance would thrive.
As we gather to celebrate our independence today, it is crucial that we remember and honor the sacrifices made by those who paved the way for our freedom. Let us embrace the ideals of democracy, justice, and equality that they fought for. It is our responsibility to safeguard the hard-earned freedom and contribute to a progressive, prosperous, and inclusive Pakistan.
Independence Day is not merely a day of revelry and merriment; it is also a time for introspection and contemplation. As responsible citizens, we must reflect upon our individual roles in shaping the destiny of our nation. It is our collective duty to contribute to the development and progress of Pakistan in every possible way.
Let us utilize our education and skills to build a robust economy, eradicate poverty, and foster social harmony. We should cultivate a culture of respect, empathy, and tolerance, recognizing the beauty in our diversity. Together, we have the power to overcome any obstacles that lie in our path and build a brighter future for our beloved nation.
On this momentous day, let us also pay homage to the courageous men and women who defend our borders, ensuring our safety and security. Their sacrifices and unwavering dedication deserve our utmost respect and gratitude. Let us stand united, providing unwavering support to our armed forces and law enforcement agencies in their tireless efforts to safeguard our nation.
As we immerse ourselves in the joy of independence, let us never forget the importance of unity and solidarity. We are one nation, one people, bound together by a shared heritage and a common destiny. Let us rise above our differences and work hand in hand to overcome any challenges that hinder our progress.
I extend my heartfelt greetings on this joyous occasion of Pakistan’s Independence Day. Let us celebrate this day with profound pride, unwavering enthusiasm, and a renewed commitment to the ideals upon which our nation was founded. May the flame of patriotism continue to burn brightly within us, and may Pakistan continue to flourish and prosper for generations to come.
14 August in Urdu Poetry
Long Speech On 14 Aug Independence Day for College Students
Ladies and gentlemen, esteemed teachers, and my dear classmates,
The word Independence refers to the freedom of mind, intent and action. Because of long-term experience, we’re breathing free as respected, independent and law-abiding residents of Pakistan. Freedom lets you ultimately control the things you do, what you do and where you do it, taking into consideration the laws of the land.
Pakistan is a fantastic gift. It’s a gift that is ours thanks to the sacrifices of thousands of fighters for freedom who decided to be free and also to defend their children’s future. The value and worth of liberty can only be assessed when you are in a bind. There are thousands of examples across the globe. From one end of the world, the world is still full of inhumane treatment and slavery of every kind. We respect you, Sir. All of us know there is a reason for the celebration of 14th August to commemorate the injustices of our time.
We gather here to pay tribute to the leaders who gave us this land for free. Land. The endless struggle that lasted throughout the years after we received this land. The leaders, such as Quaid Azam Iqbal Iqbal, Sir Syed Ahmed, Liaqat Ali and the like, are our heroes for choosing not to bow to the demands and machinations of British and Hindu supremacy. Generations of us will be eternally grateful for the bloodshed of these leaders.
Dear Sir, Pakistan as a state will continue to be a beacon of gratitude for the friendship of nations. Unfortunately, we’ve suffered several injuries and numerous conspiracy against our country. Since Independence in 2000, we’ve been fighting evils of all kinds. However, we are grateful that, according to the principles of discipline, unity, and faith, we’re in the present, standing proudly behind all.
Let me assure you that we’re here and here to stay as a free, independent and fair land even after all the conspiracy theories. As a country, the well-known public faces various problems here. It’s pretty depressing to say that we are faced with myriad issues. Law and order in different areas of our country are in danger. There are issues of corruption, resource mismanagement, illiteracy, and unemployment.
The only thing we’ve left is unification, hard work and faith in God. We must protect our nation from all these problems. The more United we become, the more secure we are. A lot of the responsibility falls on those of us children. Thank you to everyone who has been here. Ultimately, I encourage everyone to be active in the pursuit of great national responsibility. We must work hard all day and night to make our country peaceful, contributing to world peace, prosperity, and a happy life. Insha Allah, the day is not too far away when we will triumph over all the challenges.

Pakistan Independence Day Essay
Now all the students who are looking for the 14 August Pakistan Independence Day Essay can take the information from this page and perform in Schools and colleges. Further, 14th August is the day that will be remembered as long as Pakistan is on the map of this world because this was the day on which Pakistan got freedom from the tyrannical rule of Hindus and the British in the Indian Subcontinent. Muslims were always considered as the minority in the Subcontinent and that is why their rights were always being overruled and neglected This increased the dissatisfaction and uncertainty amongst the Muslim nation as they started feeling suffocated under the rule of Hindus and when under the leadership of Mohammad Ali Jinnah all the Muslims gathered on one platform and from there they started their strive for a separate homeland where they can practice their religion with religious freedom and equality.
14 August Pakistan Independence Day Essay
It was not an easy task to get the land from Hindus because the Muslims were very few in number. But their faith and unity was the thing that forced the Hindus and British to make this decision. The top leaders including Mohammed Ali Jinnah, Allama Muhammad Iqbal, Aga Khan III, Fatima Jinnah, Liaqat Ali, Zafarullah Khan, Rahmat Ali, M.A Johar, and many others were those, who taught Muslims the true meaning of freedom. Before these politicians, the Muslims of the Subcontinent were in the sleep of negligence. Allama Muhammad Iqbal motivated them and gave them power through his poetry.
With great leadership and courage, Muslims were finally able to get to Pakistan on 14th August 1947. The impact of the independence of Pakistan was seen all over the world. After this, the Muslim world became more powerful. Everyone appreciated the struggle of Mohammed Ali Jinnah, his companions, and the Muslims who gave their lives to get to Pakistan. The most outstanding thing after Independence was the changes made by the citizens. Having limited things like machinery, food, and houses, they achieved those things that can’t be predicted. It took many sacrifices to get the country but today we are not doing the things taught by our elders. We got this country so that we can perform our religious worship. Moreover, basic things like Justice, illiteracy rate, and poverty have very bad conditions.
Pakistan’s government and its people are still not taking any lessons from the past as not just once. But twice they have witnessed the result of unfair treatment and not giving the people their due rights but unfortunately, no one is taking the lesson from the past. Still, in our provinces of the country, we are laying the foundation of another civil disobedience and GOD forbid there might be another possibility that any province.
No matter whether it is Sindh, Baluchistan, or KPK will stand and will demand a separate homeland because the rights of the people are being snatched and there is no equality in the provinces as few provinces are being neglected by the federal government. We still have time to survive and to improve the condition because what happened in 1947 was in our favor but what happened to East Pakistan was a big loss and what further can happen to be even more devastating and injurious to the solidarity and the growth of Pakistan.
