The Sims 4: Discover University - Research & Debate Skill Guide

Get better at Research & Debate and you can argue with others about your Sims' most passionate subjects.

Quick Links

Research & debate skill overview, every level of the research & debate skill.

With the Research & Debate skill added in The Sims 4: Discover University expansion pack, now, your Sims can learn a little bit more about learning – and how to be more effective at it. As your Sims level up in the Research & Debate skill, they’ll become quicker at finishing homework, more effective at studying, and more.

Sims 4 Discover University: Passing Your Degree Without Passing Out

Spend some time at the Research Machine on either of the university campuses or Practicing Debate in the mirror at your dorm to begin building the machine. By the final level, you can persuade Sims, earn some extra cash, and so much more.

Made available in The Sims 4: Discover University expansion , the Research & Debate skill teaches your Sim persuasive communication methods .

How you choose to use these new skills is up to you - you can manage NPC Sims (which is massively beneficial when living with roommate Sims), coerce others to complete tasks on your behalf like your homework or your dinner, or even to perform assorted social interactions .

To get started with learning the Research & Debate skill, your Sim can either Practice Debate in any mirror , use a Research Machines to pursue the skill, or practice at any podium .

It'll primarily be built at the University of Britechester , as this university offers all four degrees related to the Research & Debate skill, which are Economics , History, Language and Literature, and Psychology .

You don't strictly need to attend the University of Britechester to build the Research & Debate skill, as the Foxbury campus has Research Machines in their Commons building, too.

However, the University of Britechester is home to the Debate Guild, while the Foxbury Institute doesn't have a comparable club that helps your Sim gain the skill at the same time as socializing.

In fact, you technically don't even need to be a university student to pursue the Research & Debate skill - the skill is available for any Sims Teen and up.

Joining The University Of Britechester Debate Guild

Those Sims who hope to build their debate skills on-campus should look into the Debate Guild at the University of Britechester .

Meeting a few times a week, the Debate Guild is only open to University of Britechester students and is a great way for your Sim to continue sharpening their skill and making some friends on-campus while they do.

To join the Guild, you'll need to attend an event of theirs, of which there are several throughout the week.

While you're there, speak to any member of the Debate Guild and ask them to join. From there, like other Organizations, you'll rank up by participating in assorted Organization activities.

At Rank Three of the Debate Guild, you'll unlock a few sweet perks, like:

  • Convincing Professors to Increase Grade to boost your Sim's performance in a class.
  • A new Research Archive Machine .
  • Your Sim can give homework help and study tips to others.
  • The Debate Guild unlocks a cool new Guild jacket .

In all, the Debate Guild is a good way for your Research & Debate Sims to meet new folks around campus and socialize a bit more casually with their peers from the Guild.

Use The Research Machine To Build Other Skills, Too

If your Sim has access to the Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine

These machines can be found in the Commons buildings on both University campuses, and accessed for free while on that lot.

If your Sim has the cash to spend, you can also buy an Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine for your home lot, but it costs §12,000 .

But not only can you build the Research & Debate skill on the machine, but you can also use them to research other skills , too.

Once your Sim has reached Level Six of the Research & Debate skill, they can begin to Contribute Knowledge on the Research Machine with any skill they've mastered.

Doing so builds fame , if you're also playing with Get Famous.

Just be careful not to over-contribute, lest your Sim overexert themselves a bit too hard ...

How To Make Money With The Research & Debate Skill

Once your Sim has fully leveled their Research & Debate skill in The Sims 4: Discover University, they'll have a few options to earn Simoleons using what they learned.

Using the podiums , your Sim is able to either give professional commentary on any subject in which they're well-versed or have professional debates with another Sim for some cash.

Doing so will also offer your Sim some Fame, if you're also using the Get Famous expansion .

This is only available at Level Ten of the Research & Debate skill - your Sim needs to know what they're talking about and how to present a case if they've got any hope of winning!

Additionally, once they've mastered another skill , your Sim will be able to write research papers on any computer about skills in which they're particularly experienced.

These sell for different prices , depending on the quality, but either way, completing one will net your Sim a few Simoleons automatically upon completion .

Helpful Traits, Aspirations, And Other Skills

With the ideal mood for building the Research & Debate skill in The Sims 4: Discover University is Focused , you may want to consider the Genius trait for your Sim.

These smartypants Sims will find themselves naturally feeling Focused throughout the day, which can help them more effectively build the Research & Debate skill.

Since you'll be dealing a lot with other Sims to put your skills to good use, the Outgoing trait can help offer additional mood boosts for the amount of socializing you'll be doing.

And when it comes to aspirations, you can double down on your Satisfaction Point earnings by pursuing the Academic aspiration , also introduced with Discover University.

As part of the aspiration , you'll need to reach Level Seven in the Research & Debate skill, among other things, so the most avid students ought to consider taking it on.

The Sims 4: How To Join The Secret Society

In the table below, we've kept track of everything that unlock at each level of the Research & Debate skill.

The majority of your unlocks are passive boosts to things like reading and studying time, paper and presentation speediness, and more.

Outside of these passive boosts, you'll also receive a number of social actions wherein your Sim can convince other to perform different tasks .

What Unlocks At Every Level Of The Research & Debate Skill In The Sims 4: University

The only thing that unlocks at the first level of the Research & Debate skill is a notification that tells you about using the Research Archive Machine, which you may not have been using when you first developed the skill.

The Sims 4: How To Write and Publish A Research Paper

Sims 4 players can take advantage of the Research & Debate Skill and make some easy Simoleons by writing and publishing research papers.

When an expansion pack is released for The Sims 4 , it's not unusual for it to add a new skill to the game. At this point, given the amount of DLC available for The Sims 4 , there are all kinds of skills that Sims can learn; there are even a few that are so niche that many wouldn't expect to see.

RELATED: The Sims 4: Discover University Complete Guide

The Research & Debate skill was added to The Sims 4 with the release of the Discover University expansion pack. This is a skill that's all about using and spreading knowledge through dialogue. This guide will show players how they can take advantage of the Research & Debate skill to write and publish their own research papers in The Sims 4 .

How to Write and Publish a Research Paper

Being able to convince roommates to clean up the house or telling other Sims to go streaking aren't the only useful things gamers can do with the Research & Debate skill. With a high enough Research & Debate skill, players can take advantage of their knowledge and write and publish research papers.

In order to be able to write research papers, a Sim needs to reach Research & Debate skill level eight . If the Sim hasn't learned this skill yet, this can definitely take some time. Sims can increase their Research & Debate level by visiting the university commons and using the Research Archive Machine or the podium. Alternatively, this can also be done at home - the Sim needs to interact with the mirror to practice debate.

Once a Sim has gotten to Research & Debate skill level eight, the Write and Publish Research Paper option will become available on any computer . It is not possible to use this interaction on the Research Archive Machine.

Unlike books, as soon as the Sim finished writing the research paper, it will be automatically published, and they will receive a single payment for it .

Research Paper Earnings

The amount of money a Sim can earn by writing and publishing a research paper is random. They can write a research paper on any skill, and even if they write about a skill they've maxed, the paper could still fail among the academy community. Regardless, Sims only take about three hours to write and publish a research paper and they get a much better payment for it than they would for a day of work at most in-game jobs .

Presented by EA Game Changers

The Research & Debate skill is a new 10-level skill that comes with The Sims 4: Discover University . Sims will learn the power of persuasion and the importance of doing their research with this skill, which will come in handy for coursework, debates, and convincing other Sims to do various tasks.

Leveling up in this skill will help your Sims win debates, so Sims involved in UBrite’s Debate Guild organization will want to focus on building this skill. Any academically-inclined Sims will benefit from this skill, as it will allow them to finish homework and write term papers faster. Mischievous Sims may have an interest in building this skill in order to convince other Sims to do all kinds of tasks for them, from cleaning and cooking to doing their homework for them.

The Research & Debate Skill is built by researching topics on the research machine and practicing debates either at a debate podium or in the mirror. Researching the Secret Society and Urban Legends does not build the Research & Debate skill.

Ultimate Sims Guides

The Sims 4: Academic Aspiration Guide

We have been graced with a new aspiration that came with The Sims 4: Discover University, the academic aspiration .

This aspiration isn’t the most fun , and has continued along the pattern of aspirations that guide you through a pack like we got with Island Living , Realm of Magic, and Strangerville.

The academic aspiration is focused on your sim getting good grades in school, attending guest lectures, and even tutoring students (a nice new way to make money).

Most simmers aren’t going to use this aspiration often, and this aspiration isn’t a necessity for every student going to University, but the reward trait is nice to have!

Watch The Video

Stages of the Academic Aspiration

  • Achieve Level 3 Research & Debate
  • Enroll in a University

The Research & Debate skill is one of two new skills added with Discover University. You can gain this skill by doing any coursework (i.e., homework, studying, term papers, etc) or by researching topics on a research machine that can be found in the commons or at a library.

The second part is easy, and pretty self-explanatory. You can check out this article on applying and enrolling in Uni!

Bright-Eyed Student

  • Achieve Level 5 Research & Debate
  • Attend Guest Lectures (0/3)
  • Finish a Course with an A

To achieve level 5 of the Research & Debate skill, you need to continue working on school work and doing research at the research machines. This skill will naturally go up rather quick throughout your studies.

You can attend guest lectures by clicking on one of the buildings on campus that aren’t housing and choosing attend guest lecture . These lectures only happen between 5 pm and 7 pm, so plan accordingly.

Getting an A in University is actually quite hard, be sure to do your homework, finish your coursework, and study often. You can learn more about getting an A here!

Avid Academic

  • Have a Term GPA of B or Higher
  • Tutor Students (0/5)
  • Achieve Level 6 Research & Debate

To get a term GPA of a B or higher, you’ll need to do decently in all of your classes that semester, as a GPA is the average of the classes you’ve taken. Try to study often and stay on top of your homework to get a B GPA.

Next, you’ll need to tutor students. There’s a building on campus where you can click and tutor students in any subject where you have a high skill. This can be done at any time of the day, and also will get you a bit of income which is a great way to make money in school.

Senior Scholar

  • Earn a Degree
  • Contribute Knowledge on Research Archive Machine
  • Achieve Level 7 Research & Debate
  • Get a Job Using Degree

To finish off this aspiration, you’re going to need to earn your degree and complete all 12 credits that are necessary to graduate. then, when you graduate, you’ll need to get a job that fits in with your sim’s degree (i.e., psychology degree and education career).

Finally, you’re going to need to contribute knowledge on the research machines. This is a good way to make a bit of money and share the knowledge you’ve learned throughout school.

Academic Aspiration Reward Trait

“This Sim has proven they have what it takes to excel at University. Along the way, they learned a lot, allowing them to gain more skill using the Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine and earn more money from Publishing Research Papers and Contributing Knowledge.”

When you’re finally able to finish this aspiration, your sim will be awarded with the new higher education reward trait. As the description says, this trait is going to help your sim make way more money when they are doing academic tasks like writing papers and contributing knowledge.

You can make really great money from these tasks after you graduate, this could be a great side hustle for your sim, so having this higher education reward trait is really helpful to get the most out of it.

To contribute knowledge, you can click on a research machine and contribute any knowledge of a skill where you have a high skill. To write a research paper, you’ll need a computer but you can research scholarly papers using the research machine.

Final Thoughts

The academic aspiration is pretty basic, but it can help you through the University pack if you’ve never played before. Part of me wishes we would’ve gotten something a bit sillier, or even a slacker version of this same aspiration. What are your feelings? Let me know in the comments!

I've been playing the Sims since the first game was released when I was only 5 years old. It's been a huge passion of mine for two decades and I've loved every single minute of it. I also love dogs. And grilled cheese sandwiches. And I think me and Bob Pancakes could be friends.

Where to Find the Research Archive Machine and More

Table of Contents

Where to find the research archive machine on campus, where do you purchase a research archive machine, what is the research archive machine, what is the research and debate skill, how to contribute knowledge on the research archive machine., how to debate, what is the debate guild, how to join the debate guild, what careers require the research and debate skill, sims 4 conduct research.

Sims 4 Discover University came with a handy new object known as the Research Archive Machine that your sim can use to grow their research and debate skill and win heated debates with other sims.

You can find Research Archive Machines in either of the campus's student union and in the Laurel Library in Gibbs Hill, your sim can use these to grow their skills, contribute knowledge, and much more. This article will go over everything you need to know about the research archive machine including where to find them, how to purchase them, what they are used for and much more.

Sims 4 Discover University came with a new world known as Britechester that is home to two main campuses, Foxbury Institute and University of Britechester, and a small residential neighborhood in between the campuses known as Gibbs Hill. Each campus has a student union where you can find the Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine.

At Foxbury institute you can find two Research Archive Machines at the Larry's Lagoon on the second floor. At the University of Britechester you can find two Research Archive Machines at the Darby's Den . They are located on the far left wall.

sims 4 research archive

In Gibbs Hill you can find four Research Archive Machines at the Laurel Library . They are located in the far right room of the library.

You can always add more Research Archive Machines by editing any of these lots in the manage world mode of Sims 4. You can choose to build on either lot and make any of these lots your own.

If you are interested in enrolling in either Foxbury Institute or the University of Britechester, you can learn how to become a university student and enroll in classes in this article .

If you want to purchase a research archive machine for your house, you can buy the basic version known as the Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine in the buy menu. You can find it one of three ways:

  • Use the search bar in the top left corner of the build/buy menu, search Research Archive Machine.
  • Go to "Objects by Room" then to "Study" then click on "Hobbies and Skill" which is depicted by the easel.
  • Go to "Objects by Function" then click on the options bar and select "Activities and Skill" you can find it under "Knowledge" which is depicted by the chess table.
Tip: If you enjoy building complex builds and find your game freezing up, this could be due to your computer being unable to render all the objects at once. You might want to consider updating your laptop, check out our system requirement recommendations to help ensure you have a seamless gaming experience.

A Research Archive Machine is pretty similar to a computer, however you don't get the full functionality of a computer, so don't rely on it to purchase anything or pay your bills. You can grow your Research and Debate skill by researching a variety of different skills. As a bonus, if your sim is enrolled in university you can also use the research archive machine to study for your classes.

When you first click on the Research and Debate Skill as a new sim who has no skills the only option you can click on is research. You can choose a lot of different options for your sim to research. A benefit of the researching on the research archive machine is that you can build two skills at once, the Research and Debate skill and the skill your sim is researching.

For example, if you choose to research "Results of Photo Editing" your sim will grow the research and debate skill along with his photography skill. You can essentially master two skills at once.

If you are interested in documenting your sim's journey through University, I have written an in-depth guide on photography in the Sims 4, including how to take family portraits and much more. You can check that guide out here.

There is another type of Research Archive Machine called the TY84 Gold Plus Research Archive Machine that is unlockable, you have to become a Senior Member of the Debate Guild. (the Debate Guild and how to become a member is discussed below). This version of the Research Archive Machine has a higher reliability rating (reliability 8) than the basic Electromagnetic Research Archive Machine (reliability 6). So you won't have to worry about needing to repair the TY84 Gold Plus version as much.

The Research and Debate skill is compromised of two components, the research component and the debate component. Your sim can master the research and debate skill in multiples ways.

You can have your sim research a topic or prep for a debate on the research archive machine. You can also have your sim practice debate using a mirror or the Daring Debater Podium Set.

sims 4 research paper

If you want to learn more about the research and debate skill I created this in-depth guide . It goes into more detail about all the benefits and how it can be used to advance your sim through the law career.

In addition of using the research archive machine to do research and prep for debates, sims can contribute their own knowledge to the research archive machine. Once you reach level 6 of the Research and Debate skill your sim will now have the option to contribute knowledge to the research archive machine. Your sim does not gain any research and debate skill from contributing knowledge.

You can contribute knowledge of any skill your sim has no matter what level your sim is at that particular skill. You will want to be careful and not contribute too much knowledge at one time, your sim could become dazed as a result. If you contribute knowledge three times in a row your sim will be dazed for 4 hours.

The main benefit of contributing knowledge is that your sim gets paid. Unfortunately, the higher your skill level you are contributing does not affect how much you make. My sim earned $482 from contributing knowledge while at level 1 of the fitness skill and again when she was level 10 of the charisma skill.

The level of your research and debate skill also does not affect how much money your sim will earn when contributing knowledge. Once my sim mastered the Research and Debate skill, I had her contribute knowledge and only earned $230.

Once your sim reaches level 2 of the Research and Debate skill you can debate other sims at the Debate Podium Pair. You can practice debating if no other sims are around or you can debate a topic with another sim.

To debate another sim, there has to be another sim around for you to debate. If no sim is around the option to debate a topic will not show up when you click on the podium pair.

If there is a sim around click on "Debate a Topic" and choose what you want your sim to debate. Not every topic is skill based and some are quite hilarious topics to debate about. If your sim has a higher Research and Debate skill than the other sim and is in a good mood the chances of you winning the debate are greater.

If you enjoy having your sim debate and your sim is enrolled in university you may want to consider joining the Debate Guild.

If you are enrolled at the University of Britechester you have the option of participating the Debate Guild. The Debate Guild is an organization your sim can join while attending university. Joining the Debate Guild can enhance your sim's university experience and add an additional challenge to the game. You will want to get your sim high in the ranks of the Debate Guild to reap all the benefits of the Debate Guild.

Being a member of the Debate Guild will help your sim earn extra credit, unlock a better research archive machine, and can convince professors to give you better grades. If you want your sim to earn good grades being part of the Debate Guild can help.

To join the Debate Guild you have to meet a member of the organization first. One of the easiest ways to meet a member is by going to the Debate Showdown that happens every Saturday at 8:00 am at the University of Britechester Outdoor Quad. At the debate showdown your sim can choose to participate in the debate tournament. If your sim wins a debate you will receive a small payout that can help any struggling university student.

Once you meet a member of the Debate Guild you can ask to join. If you have a good relationship with that member your chances of being accepted are much better. Once your a member, you will have a variety of tasks you have to complete to raise in the ranks of the Debate Guild. You will also know about all the events the Debate Guild throws and can strengthen your relationships with the other members.

sims 4 debate guild

The tasks you have to do refresh every Sunday, Tuesday, and Thursday morning at 9:00 am . This gives you three opportunities each week to grow your current member status. There are three levels of membership, a New Member, a Season Member, and a Senior Member.

In addition to completing tasks you can grow your progress by going to events and talking to members about debating or debating with other members at these events. There are multiple interactions you can choose from, but any interaction that has the small podium on it will grow your progress.

As you grow in the ranks your sim unlocks new abilities at each level, below includes all the objects and abilities your sim can unlock at each level:

  • As a New Member your sim will receive an Organization T-Shirt and an Organization Poster.
  • As a Seasoned Member you earn the ability to earn extra credit for Communication, History, Language, Psychology, and Economics classes when you participate in Debate Guild events.
  • As a Senior Member you get a Debate Guild Jacket, the TY84 Gold Plus Research Archive Machine, the ability to Convince Professors to increase your grade, give study tips to other sims, and help other sims with their homework.

If you decide to join the legal career in the Sims 4 your sim will be required to level up in the Research and Debate skill in order to advance. When you reach Level 7 of the legal career you get to choose to either go down the path of being a private lawyer who strives to make partner or becoming a judge.

Either career path you choose you will need to max out the Research and Debate skill to reach level 10 of your career.

Conducting research is useful for improving your research and debate skill for your sim. Engage in scholarly pursuits by reading books, using a computer to browse the web, attending university classes, or utilizing a research archive machine. Developing this skill is important, as once you reach level 10, your sim can have professional debates with a podium pair.

The Ultimate Guide to Crafting and Publishing Research Papers in The Sims 4

The Ultimate Guide to Crafting and Publishing Research Papers in The Sims 4

Discover a lucrative way to earn Simoleons in The Sims 4 by mastering the Research & Debate Skill Learn how to write and publish research papers to boost your income and build your Sim's academic prowess With our guide, you'll be a research paper pro in no time!

  • How to Write and Publish a Research Paper
  • Research Paper Earnings

With each new expansion pack for The Sims 4 comes the addition of a new skill, and as the game's DLC library continues to expand, so too does the breadth of skills available to Sims. Among these is the Research & Debate skill, introduced in the Discover University expansion pack, which focuses on the exchange of knowledge through conversation. In this guide, players will discover how they can utilize this skill to write and publish their own research papers within the game.

The Ultimate Guide to Crafting and Publishing Research Papers in The Sims 4

Gamers with a high Research & Debate skill can utilize their knowledge in more ways than just convincing roommates to clean up or encouraging Sims to go streaking. They can also write and publish research papers. However, to achieve this, a Sim must reach skill level eight in Research & Debate, which can be a time-consuming process if the skill hasn't been learned yet. Sims can increase their skill level by using the Research Archive Machine or podium at the university commons, or by practicing debate in front of a mirror at home.

The Ultimate Guide to Crafting and Publishing Research Papers in The Sims 4

At level eight of the Research & Debate skill, Sims can unlock the option to Write and Publish Research Paper on any computer. However, this feature cannot be used on the Research Archive Machine.

Unlike books, as soon as the Sim finished writing the research paper, it will be automatically published, and they will receive a single payment for it.

The Ultimate Guide to Crafting and Publishing Research Papers in The Sims 4

Earning money through research paper writing in The Sims is a bit of a gamble. While a Sim can choose any skill to write about, success is not guaranteed even if the skill has been fully mastered. Nevertheless, the process of writing and publishing a research paper takes only three hours and yields a much higher payout than most in-game jobs.

How to Write a Term Paper in The Sims 4 Discover University

Image of Madison Benson

You’ll encounter several coursework tasks as you complete your degree in The Sims 4: Discover University. Some classes will ask you to complete final exams, give presentations or write papers to show your academic prowess. If you’re interested in learning more, continue reading to discover how to write a term paper in The Sims 4: Discover University.

To begin writing your term paper, you’ll have to find a computer. If you live at home, make sure you have access to a computer or a local library. Similarly, if you’re living on campus, you can use the computer in your dorm room or head to a library.

Once your character is on the computer, go into University > University Coursework > Term Paper. From here, you can begin working on the assignment! After completing it, you can either submit it as a low-quality paper or edit it.

Related: How to Drop Out of University in The Sims 4 Discover University

The quality of your paper will help determine your final grade. You won’t get a high grade if you submit a poor-quality term paper. However, editing it until it is of outstanding quality will significantly improve your chances of getting an A grade or higher. Whether or not you spend an extra hour or two to edit the paper is entirely up to you.

Not all of your courses will require a term paper as their primary objective. Instead, you may have to take an exam or give a presentation to boost your grades. With this in mind, don’t be surprised if you only have to write one or two papers during the entire semester!

The Sims 4 is available on PC, Mac, Xbox One, and PlayStation 4 through the official website . If you’d like to learn more about the game, check out How to Make Sims Lose Weight and How to have more than 8 Sims in a household in The Sims 4 .

The Sims 4 Education Career

Guide: should you become an administrator or professor in discover university.

The Sims 4 Discover University Education Career lets you be a professor or administrator

You can become either a Professor or Administrator if you pursue a Career in Education.

Career Quick Links

The Education Career is new in The Sims 4 Discover University. This career lets you choose between one of two branches - Administrative or Professor. So you either teach students or run the school. Both get a teacher's desk, apple clock and award they can hang on the wall. This career relies heavily on the new Research and Debate skill that came with the Expansion. It's a nice skill focused on learning and convincing others. As a work from home career, Education offers some flexibility in how the job gets done.

How to: Education Career Cheats Press Control + Shift + C then type testingcheats on and press enter. You can now get promotions with careers.promote education - you can also see all Career Cheats or visit a full list of Cheats in The Sims 4 .

Getting Started

Early levels.

Education is a work from home career, meaning you can choose not to go into work and instead complete a couple tasks. You get paid the same, but performance is gained a bit later. You'll need to use the Teacher's Portfolio you can find in your Sim's inventory to grade papers. If you happen to lose your Teacher's book, you can find one at a bookshelf under 'Homework Books'.

Teachers all unlock the desk and apple clock you will see in the pictures for Administrator and Professor found below. Overall this is a fairly simple career that will be made much easier if you get ahead of the two logic levels. Because of its steady Monday to Friday shifts advancement can be fairly rapid with a good routine.

Teachers are able to eventually tutor students online to make a little side cash, but it's not much. They can teach Health, Technology, Art, Communication, and Entertainment.

Education Career Levels 1-5

Administrator branch.

An Administrator in The Sims 4 Discover University

The Administrator Branch focuses mostly on the budgeting side of education. As such, a lot of their work from home tasks will revolve around using the computer to review budget proposals, plan agendas for meetings, and writing recommendation letters. Planning an agenda makes Sims confident, as does Create Lesson Plan, but only for about 3 hours. Creating a lesson plan raises logic, while many of the others raise Research and Debate. I suppose this is nice, as at times when you work from home the very tasks you'll have to do will help keep you moving along in R&D. Here are the career levels and when you unlock various things (mainly at the first and last levels).

Administrator Career

Professor branch.

Be a professor in The Sims 4 Discover University Expansion Pack

A male Professor in the max-level clothing for their field. The awards hanging are about all they receive in terms of new objects.

Professor Career

Overall the difference in these two careers is not very great as far as I'm able to tell. One focuses more on Logic , the other on Charisma . Neither had any fantastic rewards for me to discover. Let us know if we missed something!

Quick question. Any suggestion on University majors that help out education career later?

(PS thanks for all your hard work for us)

Gravatar

Look on this page (click) where you will see all the degrees with which career they boost listed in the same box.

Gravatar

The Practice Lecturer link doesn't seem to work (for me). It says it is in the friendly interaction but I am yet to find it when clicking on other sims. Any suggestions? My boss is disappointed with my work.

Gravatar

Instead of doing what it tells you to do, just click on a mirror and you should find the practice lecture prompt.

Gravatar

I'm stuck. For the Professor Career you say the "Work from Home" assignment is 'Ask to Volunteer' and 'Practice Lecture'.. Not in my game. Mine is 'Practice Lecture' and 'Conduct Research'. The latter of which I can not get to complete. No matter WHAT I RESEARCH. I have asked other sims to volunteer.. Nothing! I have used the computer, mirror, gardening NOTHING.. HELP! I'm currently a Lead Lecturer at level 7 of career, logic is 10, debate skill 9, charisma 8.. I'm stuck

Try saving then quitting out of your game. Then delete the localthumbcache.package file from your The Sims4 folder.

Gravatar

You need the special Research computer in order to fulfill that requirement.

Gravatar

If one of my sims is a professor, and another is a student, will the professor appear as a possible professor for a student? Thanks.

COMMENTS

  1. The Sims 4 Research and Debate Skill

The Research and Debate Skill is very interesting to me. It's essentially a skill that teaches Sims to learn and to be more persuasive in convincing others. You'll get a bunch of different passive boosts by leveling this skill, a few unique abilities, and can get other Sims to shower, cook meals, or clean up the house - perfect for managing ...

  2. The Sims 4: Discover University

Made available in The Sims 4: Discover University expansion, the Research & Debate skill teaches your Sim persuasive communication methods. How you choose to use these new skills is up to you - you can manage NPC Sims (which is massively beneficial when living with roommate Sims), coerce others to complete tasks on your behalf like your homework or your dinner, or even to perform assorted ...

  3. Sims 4: Where to Find the Research Archive Machine and How to Use It

Use the search bar in the top left corner of the build/buy menu, and search Research Archive Machine. Search for it by looking at "Objects by Room", and then to the "Study" tab. Go to "Hobbies and Skill" which is shown in the menu by the easel. Search for it by looking at "Objects by Function", and then go to the options bar.

  4. The Sims 4: How To Write and Publish A Research Paper

The Research & Debate skill was added to The Sims 4 with the release of the Discover University expansion pack. This is a skill that's all about using and spreading knowledge through dialogue.

  5. The Sims 4 Discover University: Guide to Academic Success

Term papers take a long time to complete, but Sims with high enough Research & Debate skill complete term papers faster. The first draft of a term paper is usually poor quality. Your Sim can submit poor quality term papers, but f they want the best grade, they should spend some time editing their paper before they submit it.

  6. The Sims 4: Education Career Guide

    Traits for the Education Career.
